Lynne Gentry is releasing three novellas to complement her time travel Carthage Chronicles, the first being A Perfect Fit at under a couple of dollars.

Personally, I think it is a brilliant idea – a way to sample a new writer to see if you like their style …

What was a favourite childhood book of yours?

The Yearling by Marjorie Rawlings

Do you remember the title of the first story you ever wrote? What was it about?

“She Shall Have Music” was my first-ever “long” story that demanded attention, and life—77 pages, in pencil and on yellow-lined paper, semi-autobiographical, about a young pianist who must forfeit lessons for a full year to accommodate her family’s lack of money when her mother is hospitalized with terminal cancer. I was just eleven …

The Painted TablePublisher’s Synopsis

A beautiful heirloom ingrained with family memory has become a totem of a life Saffee would rather forget—a childhood disrupted by her mother’s mental illness.

After a childhood spent watching her mother slide steadily into insanity, painting and re-painting the ancient table, Saffee has come to fear that seeds of psychosis may lie dormant within her. But as an adult with a family of her own, Saffee
