Turn to Me by Becky Wade (with giveaway)

Synopsis:~

His promise will cost him far more than he imagined.

Guilt has defined Luke Dempsey’s life, but it was self-destructiveness that landed him in prison. When his friend and fellow inmate lay dying shortly before Luke’s release, the older man revealed he left a string of clues for his daughter, Finley, that will lead her to the treasure he’s hidden. Worried that she won’t be the only one pursuing the treasure, he gains Luke’s promise to protect her until the end of her search.

Spunky and idealistic, Finley Sutherland is the owner of an animal rescue center and a defender of lost causes. She accepts Luke’s help on the treasure hunt while secretly planning to help him in return–by coaxing him to embrace the forgiveness he’s long denied himself.

As they draw closer to the final clue, their reasons for resisting each other begin to crumble, and Luke realizes his promise will push him to the limit in more ways than one. He’ll do his best to shield Finley from unseen threats, but who’s going to shield him from losing his heart?

Necee’s take:~

“Luke Dempsey was a tragic and thorny case. Many would say he was a lost cause. Thing was, she had a soft spot for lost causes.”

There is a sweetness to Becky Wade’s stories that seeps deep into your soul. I find it hard to put into words the way she can wrap God‘s love around your heart through her characters. I laughed. I cried. I swooned. Seriously, this book has all the feels. Turn To Me is a story built on the grief and hard fight of healing to find the hope of a new future. She also uses how much our fears keep us held back from all God has for us. This story is a true gem of how the fight for a future can bring more than we ever imagine God can give us.

“The chemistry between them was a force of nature.”

Luke and Finley’s story is about opposites attracting. It’s also about overcoming grief and allowing others to help. The chemistry from these characters leapt off the pages. One of the best things about Luke’s story was it wasn’t fluffy. He was a very straight up character, whether good or bad. His redemption story was so beautiful. Finley‘s heart for the lost, whether her two legged or four legged, really captured my heart as an animal lover myself. Her heart of wanting to rehabilitate really captured my feelings as well.

“You’re still standing in the jail cell of guilt instead of living like someone who’s free.”

Another amazing aspect of the story was finally getting Ben’s happy ending, too. I really enjoyed his character and seeing him matched with another sweet character as well. Seeing the “Miracle Five” come together was a miracle in and of itself, but seeing how they each overcame the struggles of a painful and traumatic event to a future filled with hope was simply beautiful.

5 plus stars!

“Your faithlessness doesn’t affect God’s faithfulness at all. Not at all. He is faithful. Always. That’s part of His character.”

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own and have been given honestly.
