Daisy Murien’s heart is shattered when her fiancé leaves her 10 days before their wedding. Establishing a second hand bridal gown boutique, Something Blue, proves to be a blessing but also a constant reminder of her loss. Sewing a tiny blue heart, blessed by her dear friend Father Laurent, into each dress, Daisy shares the dress’s story with each new bride to be, all the while unable to let go of her own gown.
When Father Laurent suffers a heart attack, his recently divorced son, Ramsey, comes to town intent on taking him away to manage his care. Fearful of losing her fatherly confidant, Daisy concocts a plan to keep Father Laurent and Ramsey in town but leaves her heart exposed once again.
Susan Meissner’s gift of emotive and poignant storytelling shines in Blue Heart Blessed. Susan invites the reader to engage with her characters’ souls with her talent for imbueing them with authentic feelings that spill from the pages in an almost unparrelled fashion. Daisy travels a painful road of rejection and despair and yet hope glistens on every page through Father Laurent’s wisdom, the whimsy of the blessed blue hearts, Harriet’s auspicious advice and Daisy’s own belief, though for a time hidden by heartache, that God provides love that is sufficient for her. Be prepared to shed tears of pain, joy and laughter when you pick up this little gem – you will not be able to put it down.
