Can’t Buy Me Love by Andrea Christiansen with Susan May Warren with giveaway

Synopsis:~

He can’t buy his way out of trouble this time…

Housekeeper-slash-entrepreneur Ella Bradley prides herself on being ready for anything. After all, with a father who died—and lied to her—and a stepmom and stepsister who despise her, she has no one else to depend on. But on the biggest night of her life, she’s unprepared to be trapped in an elevator with the man of her dreams.

Wealthy prince-to-a-fortune Adrian Vassos wants nothing more than to shed his reputation as a party boy and prove that he is a savvy businessman. Even, a gentleman. But when he’s trapped with a woman who knows his reputation but not his face, he gives into the temptation to be someone else—and lies.

When serendipity brings them together again—this time to work off community service—can their combined sentences spark a new ending? Maybe…if Adrian’s lies don’t find him out. Again.

The magic of Deep Haven enchants in this modern-day Cinderella story.

Necee’s take:~

“Rich. Handsome. A good kisser. And he rescued bunnies. Oh, who was she kidding? So much for not falling for the man.”

This modern day Cinderella story with a visit to our favorite town Deep Haven, was a pleasant read with a different take on Cinderella known here as Ella. The romance was sweet. I really loved the family and community connections. The rags to riches story is told in a different way with a focus on how much God can bring richness to our lives when we trust in Him and let go of past hurts.

“Psalm 46:1. ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’ I love that part about him being present in our trouble. God wants to come alongside and help. He wants to be our refuge and strength.”

As these two unlikely to get together characters connect, I found myself cheering for their happy ending. Though the story took a little bit of a different take, I appreciated the journey of their hearts. Deep Haven has a magical way of connecting strangers and making them a part of their town family. If you love modern day retellings of fairytales, I think you will enjoy Can’t Buy Me Love. It was also a sweet way to visit Deep Haven again and see some of her favourite characters. I’m enjoying seeing the different writing styles with different writers in this inspiring town as this series continues.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own and are given honestly.
