Jamie Carie’s characters are exceptional, no more so than in her debut novel, Snow Angel! Over the following months we will catch a glimpse of each one of her lead characters from The Duchess and the Dragon, Wind Dancer, Love’s First Light and more. You will fall in love with Jamie’s characters, books and her lovely spirit.
Here’s Jamie now:~
I found an artist, Debra Sievers and fell in love with her work. I pictured Elizabeth to look like the girl in “Twilight Dream.” The girl in the painting has a strength and vulnerability that, I think, perfectly captures Elizabeth’s essence.
Rel:~ I came across this photo of James Tupper and he had Noah stamped all over him! What do you think, Jamie??
Strengths and weaknesses
Elizabeth has had to be strong to survive. Her past is filled with people who used her and abandoned her. Her weakness is learning to trust again after all that has happened to her.
Quirk (if any)
Hmmm, Elizabeth can’t cook . . . is that a quirk?
And Noah is something of a neat-freak until Elizabeth lands on his doorsteps and turns his world upside down. (With three sons and a pack-rat husband it was hard to imagine a man who likes everything neat, but I wanted Noah to be as perfect as a guy could get J).
Your inspiration for the character.
I think all of us, to some degree, have been let down by people in our lives. Whether it has been rejection of some kind, disappointment, or even abuse, I felt like many people could relate to how hard it is to become vulnerable and trust again. God has a plan though. He doesn’t expect Elizabeth (or us) to be able to climb this mountain back to emotional health overnight. He brought good people into her life, gave her time to heal, and brought the past back so that she could face it. Most of all, God reveals his great love for her. That in itself can change everything.
When Noah Wesley heard the faint sound outside the door of his remote Alaskan mountain cabin during a violent night time blizzard, it was no less than the voice of God that urged him to take a closer look, soon to discover his snow angel.
Unconscious and more than half frozen to death, her name, as Noah would later learn after boldly saving her life, was Elizabeth, a beautiful young woman, fragile yet fierce, and intent on discovering gold like so many others in that region during the late 1800s. But why Elizabeth was so drawn to the gold, and why she would chase it even through a pounding storm that no man would dare face, was a secret to be shared with no one else, not even at the inviation of Noah’s deep blue trusting eyes.
Lovely, Jamie! Thanks for sharing See you back here soon for Serena, Scarlett, Isabelle and the men in their lives!
