Chasing Sunsets by Eva Marie Everson

Synopsis:~

Kimberly Tucker’s life hasn’t turned out the way she thought it would. A divorced mother of two, Kim resents her ex-husband for moving on with his life and living it up while she struggles to understand what went wrong. When her sons end up spending five weeks of summer vacation with their father, Kim’s own father suggests a respite in the family vacation home on tiny Cedar Key Island. As Kim revisits her childhood memories and loves, she soon discovers that treasures in life are often buried, and mistakes–both past and present–become redeemable in God’s hand.

My take:~

Eva Marie Everson’s latest story shows her versatility as a writer as she pens a contemporary romance with women’s fiction undertones. Kim’s journey to redefine herself as a person after her marriage fails and her former husband is granted the children for an extended stay, is heartfelt and moving. Flashbacks fill in the back story for Kim and Steven seamlessly, slowly revealing motivations and choices made. Family relationships are fully developed as Kim acknowledges and confronts painful experiences from her past that continue to haunt her family. Lost love, the impact of addiction and the pain of marriage breakdown form part of this engaging story that Eva pens with sensitivity and heart. I’m looking forward to returning to Cedar Key soon.
