Coming in mid 2013 from Zondervan

Here’s a preview of some of Zondervan’s mid 2013 novels….and I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these ones!

I adore Rachel’s books and while I’m not a girly girl the cover really appeals to me (chopped off head included, Aaron!) – love the joy it conveys. Noel knows how to write a pulse pounding thriller and I’m keen to see how things turn out for his heroine, Alex.

I’m intrigued by A.L. Shield’s synopsis – no cover yet – nor identity of the author other than that he is a using a pseudonym and his alter ego is a New York Times bestselling author!

Lastly, while I’m not a big YA reader, Running Lean has drawn me in completely from the cover art to the synopsis – looking forward to Diana’s debut, for sure.

Every year, young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive “resident” status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides!

In The Promise Box, the second book of bestselling author Tricia Goyer’s Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series, Lydia Wyse, a book editor from Seattle who grew up Amish, returns to the small community of West Kootenai, Montana to give comfort to her father after her mother’s death. She is drawn back to the familiar Amish ways after finding her mother’s most precious possession, a Promise Box of prayers and scripture. What her publisher sees, though, is an opportunity for a sensational “tell-all” book about the Amish.

Lydia soon finds herself falling in love with Amish bachelor Gideon Hooley. She wants nothing more than to forget her past and look forward to a future as an Amish bride. Will the pain of her childhood—and her potential betrayal of her community—keep her from committing her whole heart?

The Church Builder by A.L. Shields

The Church Builder is the first book in a series of at least three Christian-themed thrillers written by A. L. Shields, the pseudonym of a New York Times bestselling author. Each story is fast-paced and intricate, with the clock ticking as the protagonist battles malevolent forces.

Harry Stean is an architect who designs traditional church buildings and cathedrals around the world. A former believer but now an agnostic, he is also an expert on the historical use of symbols in Christianity; that special knowledge is the key to each of the stories.

Each of the novels revolves around a centuries-old struggle between believers and a shadowy organization known simply as The Garden, which has devoted itself, working entirely in secret, to the destruction of the faith. Manipulating events from behind the scenes, the Garden has devoted itself patiently over the centuries to what it calls “snakebites”—causing tiny scandals here and there, enough to shake people’s faith just a little, hoping, as time passes, that the cumulative effect of its work will bring an end to belief.

Running Lean [run·ning leen]

A term referring to a deficiency of fuel in the fuel-to-air ratio of an internal combustion engine.

When struggles with body image threaten her health, Calvin can’t bear to lose another person that he loves. Taking action may destroy their relationship, but the alternative could be much more costly.

  1. oh gosh, I love Rachel’s cover! That is wicked cute!

  2. Thanks for the shout-out, Rel! 🙂 I actually really like Rachel’s cover, too. I think the entire design is great, from the bunched-up dress to the bare feet to the smile. It all coveys an attitude for the story of fun. The design around the title is also great with the heart and the crown above it all working to appear similar to a crest but evoking romance. It really is a great cover and my favorite of the batch. I don’t like the cut-off head on Noel Hynd’s cover as it seems to be that way for no other reason than to cut off her head. I have seen a different cover for Marybeth Whalen’s on Amazon.com. This one was displayed first but has since been replaced with another that I like better. It has a type of tree on a beach. Thanks again for the post, Rel!

    • Aaron » Thanks Aaron – I linked to the Amazon cover in my post – it’s a little unclear which one is the final cover. I think I prefer it, too, as the bridal dress cover doesn’t link to the title at all.

  3. What girl doesn’t love a princess story? 🙂 Looking forward to Rachel’s.

And Marybeth’s book! Love her writing.

  4. These look like some great reads! Once Upon a Prince looks particularly good:)

  5. I love, love, love Rachel’s cover. Probably because ANYTHING that has a sense of that kind of joy and fun about it (plus a wedding dress on the cover!) makes it completely attention grabbing. Marybeth’s book sounds intriguing. Much like her She Makes it Look Easy…I’m looking forward to it…and like this cover much better. 🙂

  6. How did I miss this post!? YIKES!

    Anyway…

I ADORE Rachel’s cover – it was actually one that got some mention/feedback in my post last week also. It’s so cute and you summed it well, Rel! This novel may surpass my fave “princess” novel which was from Lori Wick – it looks THAT promising. 🙂

Also like Marybeth’s (don’t mind the head cut off if it’s done right) plus that last one is interesting.

    • Rissi » LOL! I discovered Rachel’s from your blog post, my girl 🙂 It’s gorgeous. The Princess is a lovely story, I agree, just not going to tell you how long ago I read that one – hehehe!!
