Introducing the latest batch of Bethany House cover and stories, set to release in mid 2020! The lovely team at BHP gave me the go ahead to share these covers – as you might imagine, I never want to trump an author releasing their new covers. It’s a bit like a midwife ringing your parents to tell them the name and sex of your newborn before you’ve had a chance to do so! I don’t want to be a midwife in that regard…or in any regard, but my queasiness is a whole other topic!
So, my thoughts on these…
The one that caught my eye the minute I saw it is Tammy L. Gray’s cover. Just gorgeous, and fresh, and different. If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you know how much I love those qualities in a cover. And can Tammy write! Can’t wait to read her first Bethany House novel.
Amanda Dykes’ is evocative and enticing, and Becky’s is romantic, fresh and contemporary, so they both hit the sweet spot for me. Their storytelling is exceptional so you can be sure both books will be high on my list of winter (for me in Australia!) reads. A shout out for Karen Witemeyer’s featuring the hero on the cover – always love that 😉
I’m SUPER excited about Kimberly Duffy’s debut novel set in India! I adore international settings and this setting reminds me of Linda Chaikin’s early 90s Heart of India trilogy which I loved. The cover is traditional in style but pretty – as always I love the background scenery. FYI, if you sign up to Kimberly’s newsletter, you can a taste of her writing with a free short story, More than A Stand In.
The other stories I’m extra keen to read are Elizabeth Camden’s second Hope & Glory novel, Jody’s third Bride Ships novel (and no, the second hasn’t released yet!), and while I have a bit of catch up to do with their novels, Jen Turano’s and Kristi Ann Hunter’s both look like fun reads.
With my fabulous in-house reviewer, Necee, you can look forward to many of these quality books being featured and reviewed here, so bring on the 2020 reads!
Share your thoughts – can’t wait to hear what you think of these covers and stories! Which covers do you love and which stories are you especially excited to read?
A Mosaic of Wings by Kimberly Duffy
It’s 1885, and all Nora Shipley wants, now that she’s graduating from Cornell University as valedictorian of the entomology program, is to follow in her late father’s footsteps by getting her master’s degree and taking over the scientific journal he started. The only way to uphold her father’s legacy is to win a scholarship, so she joins a research expedition in Kodaikanal, India, to prove herself in the field.
India isn’t what she expects, though, and neither is the rival classmate who accompanies her, Owen Epps. As her preconceptions of India–and of Owen–fall away, she finds both far more captivating than she expected. Forced by the expedition leader to stay at camp and illustrate exotic butterflies the men of the team find without her, Nora befriends Sita, a young Indian girl who has been dedicated to a goddess against her will.
In this spellbinding new land, Nora is soon faced with impossible choices–between saving Sita and saving her career, and between what she’s always thought she wanted and the man she’s come to love.

Hey Rel,
There are so many that capture my attention in this group! I love Elizabeth Camden’s new cover! It is gorgeous and mysterious at the same time. And finally no decapitation! There are three of these that I love for “setting the stage” so to speak. In other words they show more than just a person. They also show the scene. Tracie’s is another winner and shows her on a riverboat! I love Jen Turano’s store scene, and the gloves, one off and one on, are a great touch. And a great scene cover for Jennifer Delamere! I also love Kristi Ann Hunter’s cover. The estate in the background is amazing. Jody Hedlund’s is wonderful. Bethany has done a great job of keeping these series covers similar but still giving each woman a different look. Judith Miller’s is beautiful, but I do wish the building in the background was a bit further back so more of it could be seen. I do appreciate a cover representing my gender every now and then, and Karen Witemeyer’s is a great one. I really like Janette’s new cover, but I will say the house looks a little odd sitting on the terrain the way it is pictured. Misty Beller’s cover is a great scene, but for me it is a bit too similar to her first. I join you, Rel, in the excitement over an India-set story. But I wish there was no decapitation on Kimberly Duffy’s cover. I, too, loved Linda’s series! And speaking of great covers, those were extraordinary! I do love Amanda Dykes’ new cover, but I think the treatment with the title words could be a bit more, maybe as if disappearing into the stars themselves. I am just not a fan of the lean. Leslie Gould’s is a nice Amish cover, and I love the quilt and the barn. I do like Becky Wade’s new cover. Both are shown with no decapitations! I also like Tammy Gray’s cover. I would, however, make the title font a bit smaller. I think it would be better strictly against the blue. This would also allow the wonderful picture of the couple under the tree to stand out a bit more. Susan Sleeman’s is a good follow-up to the first of the series. I do think the girl silhouette should be pointing more toward the foreground. And I am impressed with the second cover in Dani Pettrey’s new series. I really wondered how Bethany would carry on with the style from the first, and they did it! As a cover picture, I actually like this one better. Thanks as always for sharing these and for your promoting CF! Blessings!

The winner for me is “Crushing Depths” – Dani Pettrey – and this is why – I’m not really a suspense/thriller/romance reader – – but the cover is so intriguing to me that I want to read the story. When a cover will pull me out of my comfort zone of genres to read something not in my wheel-house, then that’s a winner cover. What is in my wheel-house of reading is Tammy Gray – but I’m not all that thrilled with the cover. The book title, to me, is too much – too overpowering – even though it’s an interesting title, it’s like it’s shouting at you. I would have left “Love” as is – but then I would have used a small font for “and a little white lie” – as if it’s being whispered or hidden – – to imitate what we do in real life – – we try to emphasis “Love” but down play the “little white lies” – – which are not little and aren’t white – and not the truth – – and they always have consequences even though we try to brush them under the rug. Just my thoughts – but I will be reading Tammy’s story – she is a great writer!
November 4, 2019 at 7:07 am
Crushing Depths is a phenomenal cover, for sure and great input, Pam.
November 2, 2019 at 9:50 am
I adore Becky Wade’s cover!! And Elizabeth Camden’s is lovely.
Completely agree that Tammy Gray is a gem. I am looking forward to many of the novels including Tammy’s, Jody’s, and Jennifer’s. I’m behind on other series so not up to some of these novels yet.
I didn’t realize how many novels I read set in the U.S. and England until participating in an international setting challenge this year. I need to expand my reading horizons a bit!
November 4, 2019 at 7:10 am
They really are lovely covers. I love the international setting challenge idea, Staci!
