Welcome to another First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books. Today I’m featuring a new to me author, Misty M. Beller, who writes historical romance and her latest novel – and first with Bethany House Publishers – begins her Hearts of Montana series. Readers who enjoy Laura Frantz and Tracie Peterson may just well find another author to add to their must read lists. Misty has a number of published books, so you can discover her backlist, AND if you subscribe to her newsletter, you will receive This Treacherous Journey as a thank you from Misty. I’ve included the link in my Extras!
Thanks to Bethany House, I’m giving away a copy of Hope’s Highest Mountain, so be sure to enter the giveaway below.
Enjoy the first line!
First Line
The Book
Ingrid Chastain readily agreed to accompany her father to deliver vaccines to a mining town in the Montana Territory. She never could have anticipated a terrible accident would leave her alone and badly injured in the wilderness. When rescue comes in the form of a mysterious mountain man who tends her injuries, she’s hesitant to put her trust in this quiet man who seems to have his own wounds.
Micah Bradley left his work as a doctor after unintentionally bringing home the smallpox disease that killed his wife and daughter. But his self-imposed solitude in the wilds of Montana is broken when he finds Ingrid in desperate need of medical attention, and he’s forced to face his regret and call on his doctoring skills once again.
Micah can’t help but admire Ingrid’s tenacious determination despite the severity of her injuries, until he learns the crate she brought contains smallpox vaccines to help quell a nearby outbreak. With Ingrid dead set on trekking through the mountains to deliver the medicine–with or without his help–he has no choice but to accompany her. As they set off through the treacherous, snow-covered Rocky Mountains against all odds, the journey ahead will change their lives more than they could have known.
Misty M. Beller writes Christian historical romance and is the author of the bestselling Mountain Dreams Series and the Texas Rancher Trilogy. She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and daughters now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.
God has placed a desire in Misty’s heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters.
Writing is a dream come true for Misty. Her family—both immediate and extended—is the foundation that holds her secure in that dream.

I’m looking forward to reading this soon. Happy Friday! I’m sharing from two Carrie Anne Noble books on my blog this week. Here is the second line from The Gold-Son:
“The forest was a forbidden place, spoken of only in warnings and whispers.”

The fiction character I would hope to rescue me is Hagrid from Harry Potter–he is gentle, strong, magical, loyal, trustworthy, and puts others before himself.

Love stories about doctoring in historical times! If I had to choose a fiction character to rescue me, two of Michelle Griep’s heroes come to mind: Samuel Thatcher from A Noble Guardian and Benjamin Lane from Twelve Days at Bleakly Manor.

Misty writes such sweet stories! Happy Weekend! My first line is from “Sara’s Gift (Small-Town Christmas Wishes Series Book 4) by Kimberly Rose Johnson:

My first thought of someone to rescue me would be MacGyver, a more current option might be Bear Grylls.

I’ve heard so many great things about Misty’s books, but I haven’t read any yet. This one sounds so intriguing!

The fictional character I would want to rescue me is any of the heroes of Susan May Warren’s Montana Rescue series books. Or how about Grizzly Adams from T.V.? There are a lot of worthy fictional heroes out there to chose from!
My first line is from Keeping Christmas by Dan Walsh:
“Judith Winters never understood why they called it Black Friday.”
thank you for the giveaway chance, Rel! I haven’t read anything by Misty yet, but this one looks to really good.

Thank you for the review of this new to me author, as I always enjoy historical fiction.
Current day – I am thinking of one of the characters from Susan May Warren’s Montana/Glacier Park series – from the rescue group based there.
