Cake or Cookies
Is “yes” an appropriate answer? I’m a hopeless sugar addict. I guess cookies might have a slight edge.
Call or Text
Texting, most definitely. I despise talking on the phone.
Coke or Pepsi
Diet Pepsi. I like to think it makes up for the cookies.
Dogs or Cats
Both. I have three dachshunds and two cats. If I choose one over the other, I’ll never hear the end of it.
Eggs or Pancakes
Pancakes with strawberries.
Facebook or Twitter
Facebook. It’s easier to share photos and have conversations. Twitter always makes me feel like I’m standing in the middle of a crowded room where everyone is talking at the same time and nobody is really listening.
First person or Third person
Third person, but I read both.
Instagram or Pinterest
Instagram. I absolutely love photographs.
Marvel or DC
Marvel. Ironman and Captain America? I mean, who can compete with that?
Paperback or EBook
It surprises me to say this, but I’m reading more ebooks these days. They allow me to keep reading long after my husband turns out the light. I’ve never liked wrestling with the annoying book light.
Summer or Winter
Summer, but I actually prefer fall and spring.
Sweet or Spicy
Sweet! Dessert first.
Tattoos or Piercings
I like tattoos on other people. I don’t have the nerve to have it done, though. I’m positive I’d change my mind about the design a month later.
Tea or Coffee
Coffee.
Thornton or Darcy
Probably Darcy, though I enjoy both. I mean, come on—brooding heroes? Yes!
Yoga Pants or Jeans
I live in blue jeans.
Zoo or Aquarium
Zoo. I love almost every kind of critter. Okay, we can probably leave spiders and yellow jackets off the list.
Where the Fire Falls
Stunning Yosemite National Park sets the stage for this late 1920s historical romance with mystery, adventure, heart, and a sense of the place John Muir described as “pervaded with divine light.”
Watercolorist Olivia Rutherford has shed her humble beginnings to fashion her image as an avant-garde artist to appeal to the region’s wealthy art-collectors. When she lands a lucrative contract painting illustrations of Yosemite National Park for a travel magazine, including its nightly one-of-a-kind Firefall event, she hopes the money will lift Olivia and her sisters out of poverty.
After false accusations cost him everything, former minister Clark Johnson has found purpose as a backcountry guide in this natural cathedral of granite and trees. Now he’s faced with the opportunity to become a National Parks Ranger, but is it his true calling?
As Clark opens Olivia’s eyes to the wonders of Yosemite, she discovers the people are as vital to the park’s story as its vistas–a revelation that may bring her charade to an end.
Karen Barnett is an award-winning author of six novels who draws on her firsthand experience as a naturalist, former park ranger, and outdoor educator to transport readers to the captivating landscapes preserved in America’s national parks. When not writing, Karen enjoys photography, hiking, and public speaking. She lives in Oregon with her husband and two children.

Another great post, Rel! Thank you!
Our family loves to visit the National Parks. Our favorite is the Great Smoky Mountains(partly because it’s the closest to us and partly because we love the mountains!) That’s why this book caught my attention! Who could say no to a novel on National Parks!? “Where the Fire Falls” is now on my TBR list!

Unfortunately I don’t think I’ve visited any national parks! Several state parks, though. I plan to remedy this in October by visiting Arches National Park in Utah. Very excited!

Does the Redwood Forest (CA) count? I’ve only been once with my husband but certainly want to go again 🙂 Also the Olympic National park in WA years and years ago. We don’t get to go often, but when we do, we have a lot of fun.
Thanks for the interview and giveaway chance, Rel!

Um, I’m embarrassed to admit I haven’t visited many national parks. I’ve been to the Smoky Mountains and the Grand Canyon.
I loved finding out how much I have in common with Karen thanks to her answers on this or that.

My husband and I visited Mount Rushmore. The very next year around the same time we saw it again, this time with our Canadian friends.
We also visited Bryce, Zion, Great Capitol Reef, Yellowstone National Park, and the Badlands.
We’ve had many adventures over the years but the one we remember the most was our trip to Alaska & Hawaii.
