Synopsis:~

When their parents die in a tragic accident, Molly Bennett and her siblings pull together to fulfill their parents’ dream of turning their historic Bluebell, North Carolina, home back into an inn. Staying in town would be temporary—three years at most—then they plan to sell the inn, and Molly can get back to chasing her own dreams.

Adam Bradford (aka bestselling author Nathaniel Quinn) is a reclusive novelist with a bad case of writer’s block. Desperate for inspiration as his deadline approaches, he travels to the setting of his next book, a North Carolina lake town. There, he meets his muse, a young innkeeper who fancies herself in love with his alter ego.

Molly and Adam strike up an instant friendship. When Molly finds a long-lost letter in the walls of her inn, she and Adam embark on a mission to find the star-crossed lovers and bring them the closure they deserve. But Adam has secrets he isn’t ready to share. Past and present collide as truths surface, and Molly and Adam will have to decide if love is worth trusting.

My take:~

Denise Hunter begins her new Bluebell Inn Romance series with Lake Season and invites readers into the lives of the grieving Bennett siblings, thrown headfirst into the restoration and running of their late parents’ dream – the Bluebell Inn. Adam is pleasingly an atypical hero, bookish and introverted, believing he doesn’t measure up to the heroes he writes into his own stories – the guy who never gets the girl. Molly finds a friend in Adam and an ally as she attempts to unearth the story behind a love letter she discovers hidden in the inn’s walls. This novel is begging for a movie to be made and there’s much to love from Adam’s gentleness and care, to Molly’s enthusiasm and cluelessness about Adam’s growing attraction. On occasion, the characters acted in ways more suited to a new adult romance, which didn’t quite fit with Adam about to turn 30 with an established career, even if he is hiding it from everyone. Hunter always delivers a lovely story and Lake Season is no exception and will particularly appeal to readers looking for a Hallmark worthy story, a sweet romance, with a cozy mystery undertone. Carolina Breeze follows on this coming May, with big brother Levi Bennett falling for a rising Hollywood star!

With thanks to the publisher for my review copy. My opinions remain my own.
