Top Ten Tuesday: Changes in my reading life

Welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday with Necee, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Changes in my reading life

I will be honest I flip-flopped on this one, but ultimately decided to share what impacted my reading the most this year. The biggest changes to my reading life have been affected by attending my first reader & author retreat in August hosted by Baker Book House. Fiction Readers Summit was an amazing opportunity to meet new authors, connect with other readers, and find new books to read.

The thing I loved about this retreat was getting to know other readers and finding out how wonderful our Christian reading and author community really is. They were all very down to earth, very kind, and very uplifting.

The highlight was meeting authors I’ve loved and online friends. However, I was also truly inspired by authors that I had not read before, which has inspired me to add new authors and new types of stories.

If you want an inspiring, yet relaxing and fun reader’s retreat, I highly recommend Fiction Readers Summit, #FRS. Below is a picture of most (10 for TTT!) of the books I received or bought at FRS and a few added recently to my TBR.

Have you read any of these authors or stories? If so, which one do you recommend I read next? It’s so hard to choose as I met most of these authors at the retreat and they wiggled their way into my heart.  One of the coolest things is most of these books have been signed by the authors. Some right at breakfast as we were visiting. Definitely a high point for this reader at heart!

  1. It sounds like you had a wonderful time! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

  2. That summit looks like it was so fun.

    My TTT.

  3. That looks like so much fun! I always love getting a chance to meet up with fellow readers.

  4. Ooh! Such great books! There are a few on your pile that I haven’t read yet….but I think your next book will depend on your mood. If you want beautiful Regency, Klassen and Miller will be ideal. If you want to be spellbound by suspense and a healthy dose of jitters, Breakey is the way to go. A nice rendition of Jane Austen will be Reay’s book, a fun Civil War book will be MacLaren’s, and a good ugly cry will come from West’s books. Ruchti’s book is a great contemporary one. Just thinking about these book is making me want to re-read all of them!

  5. Definitely “Send down the Rain” – – – of course have food, water and tissues stacked around you as once you start, you won’t stop!!

  6. Looks like you had fun! I went to the Colorado Teen Literature Conference this year and it was fun. I plan on going next year too.

  7. That sounds like a wonderful event, too, Brooke!
