Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books in a series that I loved more than the first

The Writer & her Book (86)

I’ve changed up my Top Ten Tuesday this week. The actual topic posted by That Artsy Reader Girl was Ten Standalone Books that I wish had a sequel. I didn’t have a lot of time on my hands today, so I tweaked it to Ten Books in series I loved more than the first! Now, let’s be clear this doesn’t mean I didn’t love the first books in these series. Obviously, if I was reading sequels I enjoyed the first instalments. I’ve chosen series where the later books simply surpassed my love of the initial story/stories. And yes, I’ve listed two by Becky Wade as each book got better than the last! Sweet on You isn’t even out yet, but I just finished an early reader copy and it was the bomb!!

While I’d like to tell you why these books drew me in, that time factor again, so you will just have to take my word for it ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hope you find some books to add to your TBRs!

I’d love to know your thoughts on this topic – what sequels have you love more – or you can tell me standalone books you wish had a sequel!

  1. Would you believe I havenโ€™t read any of these? But quite a few are on my Kindle patiently waiting for me….

  2. Love the Noble Legacy series! And I love Kazi and Griffin in Firethorn. There’s some other great series books in this list too.

  3. I can’t think of many sequels that I loved more than the originals. What a creative spin on this week’s list.

    My Top Ten Tuesday post.

  4. Oh, I loved the Flabbergasted series! I so rarely see anyone mention it. My husband was a PK, and he may have loved those even more than I did.
My newest sequel I loved more than the first book was Brunch at Bittersweet Cafe!

    • Teddy G ยป I’m so glad to hear of other fans of Ray’s series, Teddy! And great choice on a sequel, too. I adored Justin ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I like your take on this weeks list! I haven’t read any of these yet, but I keep seeing the Bradford Sisters books and I might have to read them one day.

  6. I love it when I see others who have loved Ray Blackston’s stories!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I can hardly wait for “Sweet On You”!

  7. I’m so glad you loved THE LONGING, Rel. It’s hard to have–and keep–favorites when your head’s down and the pen’s pouring out a new story, but I believe Everard and Susanna’s tale is among the best in Age of Faith series. Honored by you–and the company THE LONGING keeps ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I haven’t read any of these. Looks like my summer reading list is starting already.
