Now for the book…

A Christmas by the Sea

When Wendy Harper inherits her family’s beachside cottage in Seaside, Maine, she sees it as a way to finally pay off the debts that have mounted since her husband died. Her twelve-year-old son Jackson sees it as an exciting new start in a life that has grown rather gray without his father.

Before it can be sold, the neglected property must be renovated. Wendy and Jackson move in–temporarily, she reminds him–in order to fix the place up before Christmas. But the charming town, along with local craftsman Caleb Colton, pulls on Wendy. She knows that the most responsible thing to do is to sell the cottage and return to Ohio, but the lure of the sea–and a fresh start–is hard to resist.

And thanks to Revell, a peek inside…

I would hate that women had no rights and I don’t I would love anything at all in the 1800s.

  2. Love the distance between neighbor. Hate that women had no rights.

  3. I would love that communities were closer knit and having homes more spread out. Those two things seem to contradict each other, but ring true for the time.

What I would miss would be some of the modern day conveniences we have today.

  4. I love the values at the times, the clothes and romance, I don’t think I would like the carriage in bad weather

  5. I would love the clothes, and the wide open spaces. But I would hate not having a bathroom in the house.

  6. I would love the clothing and horse drawn carriages, but would hate not having modern conveniences. Also wouldn’t want to have my babies at home although some women still do in this day and time. Not me! 😬

  7. I would like the more community oriented feeling of the time but would dislike not having modern medicine. Always enjoy Melody’s books, particularly the Christmas ones and the latest WWII series.

  8. Danielle Hammelef

I would love being able to ride horses for transportation, but i’d hate not having equal rights as men.

  9. What a story so far. With four children and a marriage that lasted almost 58 years, I can’t imagine what this widow has gone through. Can’t wait to read the book. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this giveaway.

  10. I would like the clothes and the modes of transportation. I would miss the conveniences of modern times. I also wouldn’t like that women had no voice in anything.

  11. I would like that there was more a sense of community and connections but I would miss all the modern day conveniences

  12. I would like the clothing, the balls, the community, the chivalry of the men…..But I wouldn’t like no inside bathrooms :/
