Colleen Coble launches her second historical series with Blue Moon Promise, the first in her Under Texas Stars series, available now from Thomas Nelson.
Synopsis
Lucy Marsh’s worldly resources are running out, but she’s fiercely determined to care for her younger brother and sister. When she discovers that their father’s recent death was no accident, Lucy is eager to leave town. She accepts a proxy marriage she believes will provide safe refuge. But trouble follows her to Texas where her new husband is surprised to suddenly have a wife and children to care for.
Nate Stanton always hoped he’d marry someday, but running the family ranch meant he had no time for romance. When his father deposits Lucy Marsh-a city girl-on his doorstep, with two siblings in the bargain, he expects ranch life will send her running on the first train out of town. But Lucy is made of tougher stuff than Nate imagined. When danger moves in, Nate finds he’d give anything to protect Lucy and the children he’s grown to love. Even if it means giving up his ranch.
Enjoy meeting Lucy & Nate!
Brief physical description
Barely five feet tall, Lucy is a blue-eyed blonde. Her size is misleading because she is full of determination and energy.
Nate is tall with broad shoulders. He has gray eyes and sandy blond hair.
Lucy is a young Reese Witherspoon.
Ryan Gosling could play the part of Nate.

Her biggest strength is also her greatest weakness. She’s a can-do person and takes charge in any situation. She’s a “fixer” and has spent her life seeing to the needs of others. So she finds it hard to let loose of the control she thinks she has and give it all over to God.
Nate has great love for family and his ranch. He’s very focused and smart. He’s also too quick to make snap judgments and his initial assessment of Lucy is dead wrong.
Quirk (if any)
She hates spiders but that’s not a quirk, that’s just common sense! 🙂
He has a pet spider. I call that a fatal character flaw!
Your inspiration for the character
I’d read a story about proxy marriage and got to wondering what type of circumstance would force a woman to agree to something to outrageous. So I looked at my own personality and realized that I would do just about anything for my loved ones. Love is what drives Lucy in everything she does.
Then I thought about my male protagonist. What kind of man would make a great mate for someone like Lucy? I wanted him to be very focused on his ranch and looking at marriage in a businesslike way. Nate needed someone like Lucy to show him what love really was.
Background to the story
I had a reader who loved her hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas. She sent me a lot of books and material on the history of the county and I was hooked! I knew I had to set a series there.

Haha, love this: "He has a pet spider. I call that a fatal character flaw!" ROFL!
I love the cover. Looking forward to reading it someday! I read "The Lightkeeper's Daughter" and LOVED it, but wasn't allowed to read the rest since my parents cut back significantly on my romance reading. 🙁 Oh well. Someday!
