Your inspiration for the character:

This is a reunion story, so I wanted to create a character who’d been hurt and who thought she’d moved on—only to discover she still has feelings for the man who she’d once loved.

His lifestyle hasn’t been conducive to reading…but if he ever did have the opportunity to read for pleasure, he’d opt for biographies.

Your inspiration for the character

I needed a character as strong as Cate was—and equally determined. I also needed him to have a credible reason for breaking up with her, one that would be sympathetic to readers. He had to tug at the heartstrings, yet remain a powerful presence on screen. Someone who could be tough when he had to be—but also knew how to be tender. Zeke Sloan fit the bill.   

Background to the story:

I knew this would be a reunion story, with two strong characters who would clash at every encounter. I needed a situation that would force them to be together under dangerous, high-stakes circumstances. Cate’s undercover assignment was perfect for this. It allowed me to put them in a clandestine setting where they had to interact…and sparks could fly!
