The Story

Singer Ginny Marshall is one signature away from the recording contract of her dreams—a deal that would guarantee success for the former foster child, who still struggles to bury the memories of her painful childhood. But Ginny needs advice from the one person who will look out for her best interests—her former fiancé, Brett Miller. She travels to the remote town of Glacier Bay, Alaska, where the town’s colorful characters and stunning scenery provide respite from LA’s pressures.

In Glacier Bay, Ginny discovers a box of old letters and is swept up in the love story between Clay, an early missionary to Alaska Territory, and Ellie, the woman who traveled there to be his children’s governess. When Ginny is reunited with Brett in Glacier Bay, will she discover—as Ellie did—that healing and love are sometimes found in the most unexpected places?

Note from Ocieanna:~ Love Finds You in Glacier Bay, Alaska, was written by both Tricia Goyer and myself. It’s a modern tale with historical letters woven throughout. Tricia wrote the modern part, and I wrote the historical. I’ll answer these questions based on the historical story.

Enjoy meeting Ellie & Clay

Brief physical description

Ellie: Sweet face, bobbed hair, fancy clothes before she goes to Alaska, then not so fancy. She looks beautiful even when scruffy.

Clay: Tall, broad-shouldered, dark hair. Brooding eyes, but show kindness. Rugged Alaska guy.

Resembles…Kirsten-Dunst

Ellie: Kirsten Dunst, but with a bob.

Clay: Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Strengths and weaknesses

Ellie: She’s brave, even though she doubts herself. She wants to serve others, especially children. Patient. Her biggest weakness is that she cares too much what others think. She looks for others’ approval more than God’s, but He works on this throughout the story.

Clay: He’s a wise man who has a deep faith in the Lord. He’s completely committed to his children and shows great loyalty to Ellie. His weakness is the flip side of Ellie’s. He refuses let others help him, and tries to do everything on his own. He grows in this area through the events in the novel.

Quirk (if any)

Ellie: Terrified of guns—and moose.

Clay: Can’t think of one for him.

Jeffrey Dean MorganYour inspiration for the character

Ellie:  There’s a character on Stargate Atlantis (which I was watching as I planned this book), Jennifer. She’s the doctor. She’s strong, smart, and spunky, but also fears heights and freaks out in the wilderness. I thought of her when I wrote Ellie—also myself!

Clay: The apostle Paul. He will serve the Lord whenever and wherever he’s called. He possesses a lot of godly wisdom, and has endured suffering/loss. He would lay down his life for the people he serves.
