The Tempted Soul by Adina Senft

Carrie Miller longs for children, but after ten years of marriage, that blessing eludes her. So she fills her days with caring for her home, making artistic gifts and fancy cakes, and caring for her flock of chickens, every one of whom has a name and who under no circumstances will go in the soup pot. Carrie also finds support in the friendship she shares with her two best friends Amelia and Emma, and relishes the weekly afternoons they share working on their quilts.

Carrie and her husband Melvin love each other, and together have survived many lean years. If not for the kindness of their church community, they would have had to miss more than one meal a day. But now, Melvin has found work that finally provides a good living. Carrie hopes that having more to eat will finally allow them to start a family. Yet month after month, they remain childless. So when Carrie overhears two English women talking in the fabric store one day about medical options available to non-Amish women in her situation, she takes it as a sign from God. Melvin and the bishop see it differently, however.

Is it really God’s will that she pursue this, or is her longing to be a mother tempting her to stray from her Amish beliefs?

Remember Me When by Ginny Aiken

Inspired by the biblical story of Abigail in 1 Samuel, a Christian woman stands up for what is right, despite life-threatening consequences.

When Faith married her husband Roger Nolan he seemed to be an upstanding businessman, owner of a remote mercantile outside the town of Bountiful, Oregon. But Faith quickly learned the truth-that her husband is dishonest in his business practices and likes his liquor, turning mean when he indulges. When Faith discovers that Roger has yet again failed to deliver critical winter supplies to Nathan Bartlett, owner of the nearby logging camp, she takes the order up the mountain herself. Furious, Roger confronts Faith when she returns, and she is knocked unconscious. When Faith wakes, she finds Roger dead in a pool of his own blood, and she soon stands accused of murder.

Having fought in the War Between the States, Nathan has seen enough violence to last a lifetime. He has always admired Faith’s quiet strength and integrity and finds it hard to believe such a gentle woman capable of harming anyone. However, Nathan begins to struggle with his instinct to protect Faith when evidence mounts against her.

As more and more people begin to think Faith is guilty, only her trust in God can give her the hope she needs to survive this trial.

Sovereign by Ted Dekker & Tosca Lee

Nine years after Rom Sebastian was thrust into the most unlikely of circumstances as hero and bearer of an unimaginable secret, the alliance of his followers is in disarray. An epic battle with The Order has left them scattered and deeply divided both in strategy and resolve in their struggle to become truly alive and free.

Only 49 truly alive followers remain loyal to Rom. This meager band must fight for survival as The Order is focused on their total annihilation. Misunderstood and dispised, their journey will be one of desperation against a new, more intensely evil Order. As the hand of this evil is raised to strike and destroy them they must rely on their faith in the abiding power of love to overcome all and lead them to sovereigncy.

SOVEREIGN wonderfully continues the new testament allegory that was introduced in FORBIDDEN and continued in MORTAL.

  1. Oh my word. They’re all very well done but I just about passed out when I saw Remember Me When:) It’s my kind of cover. Lael would like, too:) I have a tiny suspicion that Brandon Hill is the designer but not sure. He did the first in this series. Can’t wait to read. Thanks, Rel!

    • Laura Frantz » Brandon did the first book in Ginny’s series so I imagine this is one of his, too. I love looking at his website – some amazing pictures.

  2. I have to agree with Laura. I LOVE Ginny’s cover!!

  3. I also like the cover for “Remember Me When.” The background reminds me of historical Tennessee. I also like Lauraine’s cover. I love her historical books best, but this cover draws me in.

  4. umm…hello! how gorgeous is the cover for ‘remember me when’! and what a delicious and unique setting for a Biblical story *adds to amazon wishlist*

  5. Lots of good ones! I’m looking forward to the Adina Senft one. I’ve read the others and I’m excited to see Carrie’s story. Sweet Dreams looks good too.

  6. They are all beautiful covers, but there is something captivating with “Remember Me WheN.” It begs for a read. I love Carla’s cover, too. Very sweet.

  7. Thanks, Rel, for this great feature! Waving to Lorna (thanks for the cover love) who I had the pleasure of meeting in Sept.

  8. Wow! I’m impressed by how many of you love my covers. Have to admit, I’m a wee bit biased, but I think they’re absolutely gorgeous too! Great to see the enthusiasm while I’m finishing book #3, She Shall Be Praised.

  9. How fun to be among friends and good company! I wanted to have actual chickens on Carrie’s cover, and offered to drive two of my birds up to the studio, but alas, they weren’t sure how to manage live poultry. Little do they know my girls will do ANYTHING for treats, LOL!

  10. These covers are very intense… I am excited about Wake the Dawn… and Remember Me When, and Tempted Soul looks fascinating too…. and Sweet Dreams- the cover is lovely. I haven’t read any books by any of these authors!
