Cover Art & Book News: New design from Francine Rivers and Tyndale House

Cover Art Headers (16)

Francine Rivers’ excellent duology, celebrating women and family, courage and redemption, is being beautifully repackaged for rerelease in April, 2020. I have the original copies of these novels, first published in 2010, and adored the stories, but the covers are now quite dated. These stories are incredibly rich – in true Francine Rivers style – full of drama, heartache, and victory and it’s exciting they will be discovered by new readers who by cover alone, may not have otherwise invested in these books. It’s fascinating to me to see how cover design has changed in a decade, with these new covers revealing a more contemporary style, in keeping with Women’s Fiction trends.

If you are yet to read these novels, I encourage you to get your hands on them when they release from Tyndale House in the new year.

Her Mother’s Hope by Francine Rivers

More than half a million copies sold worldwide.

A New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller.

Her Mother’s Hope has all the meaty elements of a blockbuster.” —The Denver Post

The first in a two-book saga by the beloved author of Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece, Her Mother’s Hope is a rich, moving epic about faith and dreams, heartache and disappointment, and the legacy of love passed down through four generations in one family.

Near the turn of the twentieth century, fiery Marta Schneider leaves Switzerland for a better life, determined to fulfill her mother’s hope. Her formative journey takes her through Europe and eventually to Canada, where she meets handsome Niclas Waltert. But nothing has prepared her for the sacrifices she must make for marriage and motherhood as she travels to the Canadian wilderness and then to the dusty Central Valley of California to raise her family. Marta’s hope is to give her children a better life, but experience has taught her that only the strong survive. Her tough love is often misunderstood, especially by her oldest daughter, Hildemara Rose, who craves her mother’s acceptance. Amid the drama of World War II, Hildie falls in love and begins a family of her own. But unexpected and tragic events force mother and daughter to face their own shortcomings and the ever-widening chasm that threatens to separate them forever.

“Emotionally rich . . . As her compelling characters seek to do what they feel their faith demands, Rivers sets their resonant struggles against dusty streets, windswept Canadian plains, and California vineyards in vivid scenes readers will not soon forget.” —Booklist, starred review

“Writers like Rivers are why people buy Christian fiction: it’s dramatic, engaging . . . [and] this well-told tale will have readers eagerly awaiting the story’s resolution.” —Publishers Weekly

Her Daughter’s Dream by Francine Rivers

Nearly half a million copies sold worldwide.

A New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller.

In the dramatic conclusion to the Marta’s Legacy series, the beloved author of Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece delivers a rich and deeply moving story about the silent sorrows that can tear a family apart and the grace and forgiveness that can heal even the deepest wounds.

Marta’s granddaughter, Carolyn, comes of age during the turbulent ’60s, struggling to navigate a tense family life. Though college offers a taste of freedom, tragedy shatters her confidence and she disappears into the heady counterculture of San Francisco. When she reemerges, more lost than ever, she reluctantly turns to her family to help her rebuild a life for herself and her own daughter, May Flower Dawn.

But familiar tensions emerge when Dawn develops a closer bond with her grandmother than her own mother. As she struggles to avoid the mistakes of those who went before her, Dawn determines to become a bridge between the women in her family.

Her Daughter’s Dream is the emotional final chapter of an unforgettable saga about the silent sorrows that can tear a family apart, the sacrifices mothers make for their daughters, and the very nature of unconditional love.

“Rivers has written another page-turner. This heartfelt and sweeping saga is as ambitious as its central matriarch.” —Publishers Weekly

“Engrossing . . . stunning. The prose is elegant and life-changing. . . . This sweeping family saga will touch both the heart and soul.” —Romantic Times
