Cover Art Reveal & Excerpt: Ronie Kendig’s HAWK

HawkHeads up, readers! HAWK is in the house 😉

As Ronie Kendig’s RAPTOR 6 gears up for release next month – the first in her new Quiet Professionals series – here is the cover art for the second action packed instalment, HAWK, featuring the hot headed Brian Bledsoe showing his softer side! Following on from Raptor 6, with a Special Forces veteran as the cover model, HAWK’s cover model is an Air Force veteran. So good, right?

You are going to LOVE this story, dear friends, with all you expect from a Rapid-Fire Fiction novel and THEN SOME, Ronie plunges Hawk into the icy cold of the Afghani mountains with nothing but hope and heart in his favour!

Here’s the lowdown on the story:

A terrorist is playing chess with Raptor—and it might be the undoing of Hawk.

Staff Sergeant Brian “Hawk” Bledsoe is a man of his word. But when he gives a promise to the green-eyed Afghan woman named Fekiria, the short-fused soldier never knew how much it could cost him.

Fekiria Haidary is keeping secrets and telling lies. Going against her strict traditional upbringing and estranged from her family, she is a pilot with the Afghan Air Force.

On a mission to track down the terrorist who has plagued Raptor and the U.S. military with corrupted intel and planted information, Brian and his brothers-in-arms are nearly killed when their location is bombed. Hunting the attacker, Brian stumbles upon Fekiria and her friend, who are protecting several young girls from the Taliban.

Fleeing for their lives, Brian is embroiled in a daring escape into the mountainous Tera Pass. As frigid temperatures, crippling injuries, and friction between Brian and Fekiria strain their survival prospects, Brian uncovers a lethal threat against Raptor and is faced with an impossible decision: save Raptor or save Fekiria and the girls.

And now an excerpt from Ronie to whet your appetite for more:

Grip of death. The icy maw of winter in the Hindu Kush crushed breath from lungs with brutal winds. Bone-numbing iciness. Drifts of snow that could bury an entire mountain face as quickly as it could a person. Bitter and cruel, winter in Afghanistan held nothing back. Much like the insurgents.

Staff Sergeant Brian Bledsoe scrambled for cover. Shoulder to the hill, he ignored the rocks digging into his joint. “What do you see?” he shouted ahead.

Captain Dean Watters went to a knee three meters up, a small cleft the only protection against the rounds of the Taliban fighters they’d happened upon. “Eight, maybe ten fighters,” Watters called over his shoulder.

As the communications sergeant of Raptor team, Brian was responsible for establishing and maintaining tactical and operational communications. “Mockingbird, this is Hawk. Raptor team is taking fire. Request air support.”

“Negative, Raptor.”

Hawk’s gut tightened. “Repeat—need immediate assist.”

“Not possible, Raptor. Your location is designated no-fly at this time.”

“What the—”

“Advise you disengage and RTB.”

“RTB,” Brian muttered. “If we could do that—”

Rock and dirt spat at him.

This story is SO good! Such great things to come for readers of Ronie’s RAPID-FIRE FICTION, including a special announcement about a new, elite task force comprised of Rapid-Fire Fiction readers. Stay tuned!
