Cover Reveal & Book News: Early 2020 releases from Bethany House

Cover Art Headers (18)

I’ve been a bit slow – to say the least – in getting this cover art post up for Bethany House’s early 2020 releases. A combination of busyness and the fact these posts take an age to put together. But I think having them in one place is worth it – I hope so, anyway!  While Bethany is well known and revered for its historical romance novels and cover design, there’s a number of other genres in this batch which is exciting. Lovers of military thrillers, women’s fiction, legal suspense, contemporary romance, romantic suspense, Biblical fiction, and fantasy will also find a book to love here.

The standout covers for me are Ronie’s striking Kings Falling – the colour, movement, and ferocity of the cover suit this story so much (yes, I’ve had the privilege of reading this one already) and the female lead. Nicole’s first novel with Bethany House is gorgeous in its simplicity and colour scheme. Nancy’s is themed beautifully with the preceding books in the series and is one that catches my eye, even with the muted colours.

Of the more traditional historical romance covers, I love Jocelyn’s for it’s atmosphere, Susan’s for having the male character – and a “regular” looking guy at that – on the cover, and Roseanna’s is gently appealing.

Let’s hear your thoughts, friends!

With the stakes getting higher by the moment in a twisted conspiracy, there’s a rush against the clock to determine whom they can really trust. As allies turn to enemies, the biggest secret yet to be uncovered could be the end of all of them.

And when their paths twist together and he declares himself her new protector, she realizes she has her own role to play in his healing.

Phillip Camden would have preferred to die that day with his squadron rather than be recruited to the Admiralty’s codebreaking division. The threats he receives daily are no great surprise and, in his opinion, well deserved. What comes as a shock is the reborn desire to truly live that Arabelle inspires in him.

But when an old acquaintance shows up and seems set on using him in a plot that has the codebreakers of Room 40 in a frenzy, new affections are put to the test.

  2. March is going to be amazing!! Cannot wait for Kings Falling!!!

  3. Just finished “Storm Rising” yesterday and am still trying to catch my breath. “Kings Falling” cannot get here soon enough!

  4. Wow! No wonder this took so long to compile. I couldn’t begin to choose a favorite, they’re beautiful.

  5. Thank you for doing this! Amazing covers, so many on my wish list!

  6. There are books coming out by authors who I’ve enjoyed reading from since childhood, & new to me authors. The cover designs run all different directions. They do an incredible job lining up with the plot lines. Simple and sweet for light romance, complicated for suspense, & mystical for the dreamcatcher novel. Great job!!

  7. I love these posts, Rel! Thank you for taking the time to put them together. I love these covers. I’m also excited to see the hero on Susan’s cover. I’d like to see more men on covers.

  8. This is so exciting! So many good books to look forward to reading!

  9. WHAT a lineup!! There are so many books here that I am just dying to read! 🙂
    My favorites…let me think a bit…
Well, of course…Ronie Kendig is at the top. And Connilyn Cossette. and Jocelyn Green.
But…I also really, really like…Roseanna White. And Rachel Dylan’s. And Nancy Mehl’s.
And…Nicole Deese, Jody Hedlund, Tracie Peterson, Mary Connealy, and Susan Anne Mason.
One that’s new to me, Christina Suzann Nelson, also looks very intriguing.
anyhoo….yeah…lots of good stuff here! Thanks so much for sharing them! 🙂

  10. Hey Rel!
Well, I must begin this one with a shout-out to the end of an era of sorts for me. “A Blessing to Cherish” is the final book in the long running Red River/Blessing series. I love Lauraine’s stories and I love her even more! I know there will be other stories to come, but I will miss the people of Blessing! Oh, and I love the cover, too. My favorite is Tracie’s new cover. Similar to “In Places Hidden,” this first in the Willamette Brides has a touch of mystery to its look that I always find appealing. I also really like Tracie’s new title with Kimberley Woodhouse. I like the overall block design of the cover, and the picture is so pretty with the flowers. I do like Susan Anne Mason’s new cover. I agree that it is nice to see a “regular” guy on the cover, although his appearance makes me want to say that he looks like a nice chap. Roseanna White’s cover is another wonderful view of the historical period. I do really like Jocelyn Green’s new cover, my favorite of hers. I love the view of the heroine facing toward the smoke-covered city. Lisa Bergren’s is beautiful and fits well with the others in the series. Jody Hedlund’s also fits with her other title in this series but manages to show a difference in the heroine and story with the placement of the fan. Mary’s works well, and I love that design element at the bottom. Connilyn Cossette’s cover is another winner. The lighted portion of the beautiful night sky is perfectly placed to highlight her face a bit. Angie’s works well in letting the reader know the setting. Morgan Busse’s fantasy cover is fantastic to me! I love the look of the trees and the glimpse of the city behind. Ronie Kendig’s is another wonderful cover, and it definitely manages to show action in a “still” picture. I really like Rachel Dylan’s as it reveals the setting and shows action/movement with the hair. I just wish the hair didn’t totally cover the bottom of her face. Nancy Mehl’s new cover is just ok to me. While the town certainly evokes a “dead end” feel, I wish the tracks stopped at a dead end or something like that. I do like Nicole Deese’s, but I wish there were a few more flowers and a bit less “string” design. I am a bit surprised with Cristina Suzann Nelson’s cover. It seems as if the title is being promoted as women’s fiction, but the cover has more of a suspense feel to it. I do get the car’s lights at night and the wreck from the synopsis, but Bethany is usually so careful to present the story’s genre through the cover. Thanks so much for taking the time to post these, Rel! Have a blessed day!

  11. These are just spectacular!!!

  12. Mary Jill Coombsjj

Well done Rej now if I could just remember all thes wonderful books
Books when I have so many to catch up too Stiil so fun to look ahead
And see exciting days in my future !!!!!!

  13. Looking forward to so many of these! I did get a read-through of Selah (Lisa T Bergren) and you’ll totally love this book – an epic conclusion to the beautiful series!

  14. I love them all, but I agree that Ronie’s cover stands out. So powerful. I also like Jocelyn Green’s cover and Morgan L. Busse’s covers are always wonderful. Frankly, there’s not a dud in the bunch. Great covers, authors!

  15. Wow! There are so many gorgeous covers here! I can tell my reading pile is going to be growing early next year! Thanks for the cover news, Rel! I’m excited to read more from some of my favorite authors!

  16. Gosh, I can’t take my eyes off Conni’s cover – that blue in the night.

I like Ronie’s red which gives a hint of what is to come perhaps? And Jocelyn’s is imply so sophisticated and gorgeous. Nicole’s is striking due to its simplicity but I’m not sure if it’s too simple as one doesn’t really need to look at it more than once?

  17. So many beauties! I love Nelson’s, Deese’s, and Mehl’s especially, but they’re all fantastic!

  18. All so beautiful! I’m particularly drawn to Roseanna and Jocelyn’s 🙂

  19. Well, of course, I love my own cover. When they first sent it to me, I literally gasped and could not move or talk at first. I am thrilled with that cover, and wondering how they can possibly follow up with the third cove after that.

Among the others, I love Jocelyn’s cover–so sophisticated, as is Lisa Bergren’s. But my favorite (ahem, outside my own…) is Nancy’s because it’s different and it resonates. I’ve adored the covers she’s had for her Kaely Quinn series–they’ve been amazing and look so great on my shelf. <3

  20. Ok – I am the lone wolf here – – but my favorite cover is “Daughter of Cana” – Angela Hunt. I find the woman so real and natural looking – not a “model” but a natural beauty – the simplicity of her clothing and the way her hand is so gracefully touching the rim of the pottery. If just has such a real feel for the promise of this story. Congratulations on a stunning cover! I am looking forward to the release of this book as well as several others. Thanks Rel for the preview of some great books headed our way.

  21. Someday I’ll have to make time for Rachel’s as I’m all about a novel with an NCIS agent as a lead (LOVE those shows!!), and Christina’s has a really pretty cover. Love the colors, sky and how the text uses the space. Also, I’m SO (so) excited for this new novel from Nicole!! Cannot wait to see what her latest story is all about. 🙂

  22. So many amazing reads coming out! I’m so excited!

  23. There are several books I am super excited to get my hands on in this batch! King’s Falling, Like Flames in the Night, The Runaway Bride, Veiled in Smoke, Cry of the Raven, On Wings of Devotion and Daughter of Cana are all first day reads for me. Ronie’s coveer is gorgeous, I love having such a fierce female lead front and center. I absolutely ADORE Morgan’s cover. As a lover of fantasy this has the feel of a true, epic fantasy, like something you’d see from TOR. I like that there were a lot of bold color choices made with this batch of covers.

  24. Love love love all of these. This makes my list lots longer.
