Synopsis:~
It began with an innocent-appearing package on her front porch
The box contained a cell phone, which rang as soon as she opened the package. A voice that called Dr. Kathy Hoover by name said that her husband had been kidnapped. To get him back she would have to poison one of her patients.
At first, she didn’t believe that her husband had been taken from the conference he was attending, but soon she discovered that the kidnappers really had Darren. If she wanted to see him again, she had to give medication that would murder Kelton Rush, former Vice-President. What was she to do? How would she handle this critical decision?
Necee’s take:~
Critical Decision had an interesting storyline that grabbed me right from the start. The mystery surrounding Kathy and Darren kept me guessing. A good story that asked the question what would you do if your family was threatened? When you were stuck between a rock and a hard place, what critical decision would you make? I loved seeing both Kathy and Darren’s viewpoints as they figure out the mystery. This husband-and-wife duo made for an intriguing read for anyone who enjoys a married couple solving a mystery. It was also interesting to learn about different medical circumstances. Overall a decent read, though I felt the emotional connection to the book could have been stronger. However, as a novella, it’s a quick read. I think the writing would work for male and female readers that want less romance and more intrigue.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I am giving my honest opinion.

Relz,
The first time I met Dr. Mabry was at my first writer’s conference. I’ll never forget his kindness to me. I doubt he remembers me, but I’ll always remember him with fondness.
I’m so excited to hear he has a new book out.
Dr. Mabry, congratulations on Critical Decision!

I’m actually not certain a medical thriller is appropriate for this time but I’m feeling cautious not afraid of the current situation.

My favorite part about medical thrillers is that it’s “my language” and I can easily put myself into the scenario. Medicine can actually be really exciting and anything can and does happen.

I guess I should’ve answered your question. Medical thrillers can be pertinent pretty much anytime. There always seems to be things going on. I read another novel this week (soon to be released) and it dealt w/ medical issues and China was involved. Very intriguing that it was releasing during this time of the CV pandemic. I enjoy the genre anytime!

I have only read one medical thriller before. My son is a nurse so I am used to all the language and it’s a genre that interests me.
