I’m back with another cover change!

I’m back, my friends!

Had a lovely break enjoying some of the beautiful countryside we have in our country – I might post some pics from our time away sometime soon!

Now back to all things bookish! Not sure if you have been discussing this while I’ve been away but there has been another cover change well worth checking out. Karen Witemeyer’s 2013 release, Stealing the Preacher, has had a facelift.

On his way to interview for a position at a church in the Piney Woods of Texas, Crockett Archer can scarcely believe it when he’s forced off the train by a retired outlaw and presented to the man’s daughter as the minister she requested for her birthday. Worried this unfortunate detour will ruin his chances of finally serving a congregation of his own, Crockett is determined to escape. But when he finally gets away, he’s haunted by the memory of the young woman he left behind–a woman whose dreams now hinge on him.

For months, Joanna Robbins prayed for a preacher. A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the heart of her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her dying mother. A man to help her discover answers to the questions that have been on her heart for so long. But just when it seems God has answered her prayers, it turns out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own calling him elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett to stay in her little backwoods community? And does the attraction between them have any chance of blossoming when Joanna’s outlaw father is dead set against his daughter courting a preacher?

So, which one do you prefer? The original on the left or the new cover, on the right?

  1. I noticed the different cover on Amazon, and I have to say that it’s really pretty! 🙂 I love her dress, as well as the white church in the background between them!

The first cover had a bit more personality, I think… But the second cover seems to fit with Karen’s other books, and it’s cute. 🙂

    1. Amber S. » Great thoughts, Amber! I prefer the guy in the first cover, actually. He looks more “preacher” to me. Well, not sure I’m being fair given that it would be hard to tell someone was a preacher by their right arm – hehehe!

  2. I actually prefer the first one. But I’m a guy and not really the target audience. I agree with Amber about the church. A nice touch between them that lets the reader know, along with the title, that he is a preacher. I do like the new dress better. My problem is, and you won’t be surprised Rel, the cut-off heads. There is no reason for it here. It just looks strange to me. The overall cover is nice, but I think it would be better showing her head at least.

    1. Aaron McCarver » You should know, Aaron, that whenever I see a cover with a chopped off head I think, “Aaron will have something to say about this!” – LOL!

  3. I prefer the new cover way more than the old. Her praying hands look awkward and I’m just realizing…..does she have him tied up?!? Yep! Definitely like the new one much better!

  4. I like the new cover so much more than the other. When I saw the first cover, I was disappointed in it; it just didn’t seem up to the standards of the other covers of Karen’s books. I’m looking forward to reading Stealing the Preacher. Thanks for showing us the new cover.

  5. I like the new one better! It seems way more in tone with the humor that Witemeyer is so good at. Plus I actually like that you can’t see all of their faces. Looking forward to reading this! 🙂

  6. Love, love, love the new one! The old one was pretty tame. We’d all been there and read that before.

But the new cover says, “Hold on! This one’s going to be fun.” 🙂

  7. We have Karen’s books in the Church Library.
If I had a choice of books based on the cover alone, I would definitely pick the new revised book.
