Must Reads: Becky Wade and Katie Ganshert

TTY LA

Okay, so I’m in a bit of a reviewing bind at the moment! As an INSPYs Board Advisory member I’m currently knee deep reading the longlist books which I can’t talk about as it would compromise our wonderful Awards, so I’m stuck. But…one of the best things about being a book blogger is access to not yet released novels. But then it’s best to review close to their release date. To remedy both my “problems” I’m going to recommend two upcoming books that I’ve had the privilege to read, which I won’t be reviewing until closer to their release dates.

Seriously, pre-order, pre-order, pre-order.

Becky Wade’s True to You (be sure to get your hands on the FREE prequel novella, Then Came You) is my new favourite of hers. The start of her new Bradford Sister Romance series and it is exceptional – everything was perfect for me! The characters, the plot, the tension, the romance, the kisses, the emotions, the kisses, the secondary characters (bring on books 2 & 3), the kisses…seriously, if you adore a beautiful and significant love story, get this one.

true-to-you
After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.

Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he’s diagnosed with an inherited condition, he’s forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.

The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John’s already dating someone and Nora’s not sure she’s ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they’re seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

We all know Katie Ganshert is one heck of a writer and Life After is one heck of a story. Just brilliant. Powerful, heart-wrenching, stirring, thought provoking. Katie seems to get better with each book and this one still has me pondering weeks after I finished it.

Life After

Snow whirls around an elevated train platform in Chicago. A distracted woman boards the train, takes her seat, and moments later a fiery explosion rips through the frigid air, tearing the car apart in a horrific attack on the city’s transit system. One life is spared. Twenty-two are lost.

A year later, Autumn Manning can’t remember the day of the bombing and she is tormented by grief—by guilt. Twelve months of the question constantly echoing. Why? Why? Why? Searching for answers, she haunts the lives of the victims, unable to rest.

Paul Elliott lost his wife in the train bombing and wants to let the dead rest in peace, undisturbed and unable to cause more pain for his loved ones. He wants normalcy for his twelve year-old daughter and young son, to see them move beyond the heartbreak. But when the Elliotts and Autumn are unexpectedly forced together, he fears she’ll bring more wreckage in her wake.

  1. Thank you so much, Rel. I can’t wait to read Katie’s new book! She’s my “Pinterest Wars” foe but she’s also one of my best writing buddies. (I’d like her even more if she weren’t so ridiculously talented and young and skinny). 😉

    • I may be younger, but somehow, you’re the one with the mind of a springy 18 year old who forgets NOTHING, while I can never remember what I ate for breakfast this morning. Do you take Ginkgo Biloba supplements or something?

Rel – what a treat this one to see this morning! Thank you so much!!
