Bookchat with Susie Finkbeiner (with giveaway)

Relz Reviewz Banners (60)

Susie Finkbeiner’s fourth historical novel is garnering just as much praise as her acclaimed Pearl Spence novels which began with A Cup of Dust. Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, this family drama has all the signature angst, heartache, and hope readers have come to love about Susie’s storytelling. I love the insights Susie shares in this bookchat and I hope you do too.

Be sure to enter the giveaway below, thanks to the fabulous folk at Revell Books. Over to you, Susie…

Cover Love and Book News: Coming in early 2020 from Revell Books

Cover Art Headers (17)

I love sharing covers on my blog – even when you’ve likely seen most of them already, it’s great to have them in one place, don’t you think? Here’s Revell’s early 2020 releases for your enjoyment! Revell continues with tried and true cover design with nothing in this group particularly standing out as something unique and fresh in terms of cover design. Their designs are always professional and well put together, but I do have to say I’d love to see something out of the box every now and then. As I mentioned in a previous post, my preference these …

Cover Art & Book News: New design from Francine Rivers and Tyndale House

Cover Art Headers (16)

Francine Rivers’ excellent duology, celebrating women and family, courage and redemption, is being beautifully repackaged for rerelease in April, 2020. I have the original copies of these novels, first published in 2010, and adored the stories, but the covers are now quite dated. These stories are incredibly rich – in true Francine Rivers style – full of drama, heartache, and victory and it’s exciting they will be discovered by new readers who by cover alone, may not have otherwise invested in these books. It’s fascinating to me to see how cover design has changed in a decade, with these new …

Top Ten Tuesday: Covers minus the characters!

Top Ten Tuesday

The Top Ten Tuesday topic – hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl – didn’t quite work for me this week – cover redesigns – so I’m tweaking it to my advantage and talking about some stunning covers that don’t feature people. While there are some very attractive characters on covers at the moment (I’m waving hello to Knox, Tate, Ford, and all of Ronie Kendig‘s recent covers!), I’m becoming more drawn to covers that leave the characters to the imagination and focus on stunning artwork or scenery.

I just love covers that evoke a sense of …

Gray Delacroix has dedicated his life to building his very successful global spice empire, but it has come at a cost. Resolved to salvage his family before it spirals out of control, he returns to his ancestral home to save his brother and sister before it’s too late.

First Line Friday: Jessica Kate’s Love and Other Mistakes

First Line Friday

Fellow Australian, Jessica Kate, launched her debut novel this week, Love and Other Mistakes, and from what I hear a dramedy with some humourous moment but also a heavy hitter with some of the relationships and subject matter it deals with. Jessica is super fun – one part of the fabulous Story Nerd girls – and I’m thrilled to see this book hit shelves and into readers’ hands. I loved her free novella, The Kiss Dare, and will be diving into Love and Other Mistakes soon. For now, I’m sharing the first line for Hoarding Books‘ First …
