Welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. As is my tendency, I’ve tweaked this week’s topic – Holiday Reads (Books you love reading during the holiday season) – as is my habit, if the topic doesn’t quite work for me. I don’t read for a particular season, and I’m not a big reader of Christmas stories, so today I’m serving up some of the books I plan to read during the Christmas period, for me that’s December and January, which is Australia’s summer break.
Four of these books are yet to release, but I’m fortunate to have them on my Kindle, thanks to the publishers and NetGalley. I’ve already read two, and I’m partially through one on audiobook. They have all been winners, so I’m thinking I’ve chosen well and have high hopes for the remainder. As you can see from this list, I’m an eclectic reader and don’t stick to a particular genre. Personally, I’d find that a little tedious. I’m so grateful for the range of books writers create for a reader like me! Not personally, of course 😉
Holiday Reads
Brand of Light by Ronie Kendig
I will be reading Brand of Light for the third time once my hardcover copy arrives. It’s. That. Good. The word epic is thrown around a lot these days, but few books measure up like this one does.
My Dearest Dietrich by Amanda Barrett
I’ve heard such great things about this novel, based on the love story of the famous martyred German pastor and activist, and I can’t wait to read it. I know how the story ends, so I’m not looking forward to that part so much.
The Work of Art by Mimi Matthews
So, I might already be listening to The Work of Art on audiobook. Mimi is a newfound author for me and I’m rapidly making my way through her backlist of captivating Victorian romance novels. They are amazing!
A Girl’s Guide to the Outback by Jessica Kate
I’m super excited to read Jessica’s second novel. Nothing like Australian settings and characters actually written by an Australian!! Much to love, no doubt!
The Solid Grounds Coffee Company by Carla Laureano
Okay, so I’ve already indulged in Carla’s final Supper Club novel. As I’ve come to expect from this author, her characters are intelligent, her prose smart and snappy, and the story is filled with fascinating facts about coffee that even this non-coffee drinking found intriguing.
If For Any Reason by Courtney Walsh
I love me a great Courtney Walsh romance! I’m confidant this will be another winner for me.
The Gryphon Heist by James R. Hannibal
Love a gritty and fast-paced suspense novel, so I’m sure hoping James R. Hannibal serves it up. Hearing all good things about this new to me writer.
When Silence Sings by Sarah Loudin Thomas
Sarah is one talented writer, so I can’t wait to get the festivities sorted and the reading begun!
The Way of the Brave by Susan May Warren
Can’t go past a great Susie May novel and the start of her new Global Search and Rescue novel will be the perfect treat. Leaving a trail of crumbs in her just concluded Montana Marshalls series, I can’t wait to plunge into Orion’s story.
What is a Girl Worth? by Rachael Denhollander
I rarely read a non-fiction book, but Rachael’s courage and bravery makes this a must read for me as a mum to three daughters. It won’t be pleasant but the least I can do in honour of all girls and women who have been subjected to this brand of evil.
What books will you be reading this festive season?

CANNOT WAIT TO READ Carla’s. I enjoyed books one and two SO much more than even I anticipated. Also, I did start Courtney’s, but had to put it aside to enjoy some Christmas reads. 🙂 Hope you enjoy all of these, and glad to know you’ve already liked some of them, Rel. Hugs.
