I’m a long time fan of Angela Hunt’s fiction and have most of her books. Her stories always challenge me to think and they are so engaging. My sentimental favourites are her Heirs of Cahira O’Connor series. I also loved The Canopy, Legacies of the Ancient River, and the Fairlawn series. Over the years, I have chosen many as book club selections as they have so much substance to discuss and ponder. I’m delighted to feature Angela here once again and hope you enjoy getting to know her better. Judah’s Wife
Seeking peace and safety after a hard childhood, Leah marries Judah, a strong and gentle man, and for the first time in her life Leah believes she can rest easily. But the land is ruled by Antiochus IV, descended from one of Alexander the Great’s generals, and when he issues a decree that all Jews are to conform to Syrian laws upon pain of death, devout Jews risk everything to follow the law of Moses.
Judah’s father resists the decree, igniting a war that will cost him his life. But before dying, he commands his son to pick up his sword and continue the fight–or bear responsibility for the obliteration of the land of Judah. Leah, who wants nothing but peace, struggles with her husband’s decision–what kind of God would destroy the peace she has sought for so long?
The miraculous story of the courageous Maccabees is told through the eyes of Judah’s wife, who learns that love requires courage . . . and sacrifice.

I don’t think I’ve read any of Angela’s books…
This one looks great – biblical historical fiction, right up my alley!
February 26, 2018 at 12:54 pm
I have read several books by Angela but they are older novels. The Fairlawn series, 5miles South Of Peculiar, The Elevator, The Novelist, , The Justice, and tThe Face. I really enjoyed the Fairlawn series and the others were suspenseful. I guess I need to read some more recent ones.

I would like to read this one.

I have read sixteen or seventeen (starting with the Cassie Perkins series when I was a teenager), and currently own nineteen others that I haven’t gotten to yet! (And I am still missing a bunch of her books!)

I’ve read quite a few of her Biblical fiction but have not read any of her historicals or contemporaries. I love her Biblical fiction. Her book Esther was the first Christian Fiction I picked up and I haven’t been the same since.

I’ve read Esther and The Tale of Three Trees. Loved them both!
Angela’s responses for Summer or Winter and Twitter or Facebook made me smile. 🙂

New author for me.

I’ve only read one book from her so far, but from that one book I discovered what a unique storyteller Hunt is! The book, The Awakening had quite the fantastic rollercoaster ride of a plot! Her main character, Aurora was unique in the way that Hunt gave her a crippling phobia. Not many authors torture their characters so! 😉

I haven’t read any of her books but I think I would be interested in reading them since I love Biblical history! And I haven’t seen many books written about this time period so it’s creative and original!

February 27, 2018 at 1:13 pm
I’ve only read a couple of Angela Hunt’s books. The Offering really stood out to me!
February 27, 2018 at 6:23 pm
I haven’t read every one, but dozens and love ’em. Angie, you’re a terrific writer/storyteller. And Rel, I’m with you in loving the Heirs of Cahira O’Connor series. Also Let Darkness Come … so many. Enjoyed the “interview.” Never knew, Angie, you were allergic to dogs! LOL Such a strong woman. i’m allergic to them too and we’ve only had (as a result) huskies and such that could thrive out of doors. Looking forward to reading Judah’s Wife. Thanks for the opportunity.
