Coming in early 2013 from Revell

More fun and thoughts with Revell’s early 2013 lineup with some suspense, historical, Amish, romantic comedy, contemporary drama and more!

I’m particularly looking forward to reading Olivia, Irene, Julie, Ann and Janice’s books; I’m intrigued by Dann’s and Ruth’s stories and can’t wait to read Mesu’s take on Hosea and Gomer ~ Mesu writes great Biblical fiction so I have high expectations!

Cover wise, I’m glad they have moved away from the hero/heroine tradition with Irene’s new series and can anyone dispute that Janice’s cover is the first CBA novel with the protags kissing on the cover?!? Love that Revell have tried something different with it.  I’m surprised by the lack of colour with Laurie’s cover, especially with the eyecatching blue on Amanda’s Waiting for Spring.

So, do share your thoughts….. inquiring minds (mine!) want to know what you think! If you haven’t seen my earlier post on Bethany House’s new releases, then be sure to check it out as well.

The Lesson by Suzanne Woods Fisher

In her wildest dreams, spunky and impulsive nineteen-year-old Mary Kate Lapp never imagined herself behind a schoolteacher’s desk. A run-in (literally) with the schoolteacher compels her to act as a substitute teacher, just as her restless desire to see the world compels her to apply for a passport . . . just in case. The only thing of interest to M.K. in the sleepy Amish community of Stoney Ridge is the unexplained death of a sheep farmer that coincided with the arrival of a mysterious young man into the community. Frustrated that no one takes the crime seriously, she takes matters into her own hands. Unfortunately, as tends to be the case for M.K., she jumps headlong into trouble.

Centered on one of Suzanne Woods Fisher’s most loved characters, this is the story fans have eagerly anticipated. The precocious M.K. is all grown up (well, almost) and ready to take on the world–with surprising results. Fisher’s trademark plot twists and turns are as unexpected and satisfying as ever in this third book in the Stoney Ridge Seasons series.

  1. Oh, WOW, REL … LOVE the montage!!! How fun … gets me all itchy to get my hands on these fabulous books!!! Sigh.

    Hugs,
    Julie

  2. What GREAT, GREAT, GREAT covers!!!!!! Oh my goodness, Revell has REALLY stepped it up! LOVE Julie and Janice’s covers!!!

  3. Thanks for featuring my upcoming book, Rel! I, too, am excited about the new direction for my suspense covers. I’d love to hear what your readers think about the look for “Vanished”!

    • Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment, Irene 🙂 I think the cover emphasizes the suspense which I like. The synopsis makes it clear there is a romance angle so all should be right in the world for your readers – LOL! I like the angle you are taking with your ‘justice seekers’, too.

  4. Wow, Rel! You never fail us with the cover love:) I saw Mesu’s and Ann’s when we got together last month but the rest of these are new to me. Wow! Ruth’s is just beautiful and intriguing but they’re all well done. Love covers!! And thank you for sharing them here!

  5. Your previews are always the bomb! LOL

  6. ahhhhh!!!!

  7. Thanks Rel for the exciting Revell preview, and for including my first novel with Gary Smalley in the mix. It was wonderful working with him on The Dance. I’m already a third of the way through Book 2. He and I just got back from visiting the entire Revell team in Grand Rapids at their Sales conference. So much fun to see all the people I’ve been working with the last 4 years where they actually work (instead of the places I imagined). GR is gorgeous this time of year. I also got a copy of the new Spring 2013 catalog and read all about the books you’ve just highlighted on the plane ride home. A powerful lineup.

Thanks again for putting all this in the spotlight!

    Dan Walsh

    • Dan Walsh » Hey Dan – thanks for dropping by 🙂 I noticed on twitter that you had enjoyed a terrific time at the sales conference – no doubt you were inspired!

  8. Wow second squeal in two days! I had no idea about Irene Hannon’s new book! I love her other books (though I still have two to read) and this one sounds like another hit! And I love the cover-so cool!

  9. Looks like a lot of great books to look forward to and I love all the covers.

  10. Another great set of covers. The mountain boy in me (yes, I grew up in the mountains of Tennessee but have lived in Mississippi since 1983, so Southern and mountain) loves Laurie’s cover. They really captured the Appalachian Mountains in the autumn. And the dress matches so well. Amanda’s colorful dress does jump out and make you notice the book, just like the first in the series. But I do not like the chopped-off heads on Janiice’s, I’m afraid. I love the design, and the colors evoke wedding, but those heads… I am not sure about Irene’s either. But I defer to others as I admit that suspense is not my first love. Thanks for posting these. Can I just add that I wish you had posted Barbour’s covers that are coming out now? I would love to know what your readers feel about my and Diane’s cover.

    • Aaron McCarver » That’s interesting, Aaron. I felt there wasn’t enough contrast between the background and the dress in Laurie’s – just shows our eyes are captivated by different things. I really appreciate you coming by and sharing your thoughts – love getting a male perspective!

I try to post the covers from different publishers but while it looks like a straightforward post, these ones are very time consuming to do. I’ll try to make sure I do Barbour’s when you next have a book coming up 🙂

  11. Awesome Rel! I found this post through Mesu’s linking to it (I LOVE Mesu’s books and cannot wait for this new one of hers!), so am delighted to find such an irresistable lineup from Revell, and I see you’ve posted Bethany’s and Zondervan’s too so I’ll take a look at those as well .

Well done – this post looks great! Very informative too with all the blurbs etc. And I understand all too well how much time you have put into this, so trust us all when we say we appreciate it. This will help me greatly as I add the upcoming books to my webstore for NZ readers to order once they become available. Bless you heaps!!

PS. I agree with Aaron – a 2013 lineup from Barbour would be great, if you one day have the time and can source the info 🙂

    • Ellie Whyte » Hi Ellie – I’ve been following you around on the web for a long time – LOL! Glad you enjoyed the post – certainly stay tuned for more to come!

      • Haha Rel, that’s funny! I was active for quite a while there some time ago, then life happened and I dropped off the radar a bit… nice to see others picked up where I’d left off though so now that I’m back on board I can take a different direction. It’s all good with so many promoting Christian fiction now – and you’re doing it so well! Bless you heaps!

  12. Laurie’s cover speaks to me because of the area I grew up in. The Appalachian Mountains change with the different seasons. The autumn brings a blaze of colors like orange, yellow, brown, red, and others as they leaves begin to die and fall to the ground. The sides of the mountains look like God took His paintbrush and poured out some of His best colors. It speaks to my soul. The cover evokes some of that in me. And thanks for considering the next line-up from Barbour. Just to let you know, our first book in our new series, Lily, book 1 of Song of the River, just releases. it is one of those “Southern” stories from the Mississippi area of the 1800s. The sequel, Camellia, releases in December. Thanks again for your great blog supporting Christian fiction.

  13. So many good titles coming! I am most looking forward to Lessman, Cabot & Eakes (LOVE THAT COVER!).. but there are really intriguing plot lines from authors that I have not read, such as the one on Rebekah, and the one by Axtell. Gotta add more to my wish list!

    • Marie » I agree with you about Ruth Axtell’s story – sounds great. Ruth is an experienced writer, especially in the Regency period, so it is sure to be good!

  14. Thank you for featuring When the Heart Heals amidst this striking collection of awesome covers! I loved writing Rosemary’s story. You do such a great job for all of us, Rel! Thanks again!!

  15. I just LOVE all the covers!!! Especially Julie’s and Amanda’s!

  16. WOW! WOW! WOW!

Ann, Olivia, Julie (love her books!), Amanda, Irene and Janice’s make me SO excited!! I absolutely love Janice’s art and am thrilled we get to re-visit Bella and company. 🙂

  17. Rel, you make having a new – well, not exactly new – book fun. Scent of Lilacs got a new look and I’m hoping Jocie and her family and friends in Hollyhill will find some new readers. All the covers look great. Really like the smile on the girl on Suzanne Woods Fisher’s new book, The Lesson. Actually makes me think of the smile on Suzanne’s face in some of her photos out on the net. The cover for Dan Walsh & Gary Smalley’s new book, The Dance, heads off in a new direction for Dan’s covers. I liked Rebekah too. Well, I liked all of them. So many books, so little time. Thanks for adding mine to the mix.

    Ann

    • Ann H. Gabhart » Hello Ann! Yes, I have a copy of the first edition of Scent of Lilacs 🙂 I do love seeing Jocie on the cover now, though.

  18. I just realized that my reader wasn’t updated to your new website and I’ve been missing out for months on your posts! Months! I thought you were on vacation! :-p These covers are gorgeous. I’m especially looking forward to the new Julie Lessman and Irene Hannon books.
