*****
Cake or Cookies
Cookies! Especially fresh from the oven. I’m only a cake girl when it’s my aunt’s recipe. It’s a chocolate cake that has coffee in it, strangely enough, and that makes it super moist. So I guess I could say cookies unless it’s my Aunt Mavis’s cake. 😉
Call or Text
Text, text, text. If someone is calling me, that usually means something is wrong. I once called a friend knowing we were both driving, and I completely freaked her out. I made her think something was wrong. (It wasn’t.) I just knew we were both driving and didn’t want to text. (The exception to this rule is my mom. I talk to her quite often on the phone since we don’t get to live near each other.)
Coke or Pepsi
Pepsi! I like the taste better, and I grew up hitting antique stores with my family. I collected everything vintage Pepsi and my sister everything vintage Coke. It was fun to have something to collect. Now it’s all in boxes in the garage, but I think it would be fun to decorate the guest room as a “Pepsi” room. I just have to take a break from writing long enough to make it happen. J
Dogs or Cats
Dogs! Moose, the Great Dane from Her Texas Cowboy, even made it onto the cover.
Rel: This guy could pass as Moose!
Eggs or Pancakes
Eggs. I prefer protein in the morning. It lasts me longer. Otherwise I’m ready for lunch at ten a.m.
Facebook or Twitter
Facebook. I enjoy interacting with people on my author page. It’s fun to get to know them. They’ve helped me name my characters, helped brainstorm what my characters might do or say. I love their feedback and input. We have a pretty good time on my author page, if I do say so myself. 😉
First person or Third person
I recently wrote a novella for fun in first person, and it was a blast! I felt I could really get into the character’s head. But I also enjoy third person. I would be torn if I had to pick just one style! I’m curious what everyone has to say about this…what’s your favorite style to read? First or third?
Instagram or Pinterest
Oh, this is a tough one! I enjoy photography, so Instagram is probably my fave, but I use Pinterest for book research. If often pin outfits or ideas to each book board as I’m writing. So for everyday I’d say Instagram. But if you want to know what’s going on in my mind while writing, I’d say Pinterest.
Marvel or DC
Okay. Confession time. I don’t know! I have total missed the boat with anything superhero. If you all have any advice for me of where to start and what to watch, I’d love to hear it!
Paperback or EBook
While I prefer paperback, I just don’t have the space for a ton of books. So I do read a lot of ebooks to stay organized.
Summer or Winter
Ah…summer. Beaches. Lakes. Oceans. Backyard BBQs. Summer is hands down my fave.
Sweet or Spicy
Spicy. I loooove something spicy. I didn’t when I was younger, but as I got older, my tastes expanded. Now I’ll try anything spicy.
Tattoos or Piercings
I’m kind of a wimp on this. Piercings, but the only thing I have pierced is my ears. In college I pierced my ear cartilage, and I couldn’t sleep on it for months. A few years later it closed up, and I won’t be doing that again. 😉
Tea or Coffee
Coffee times a thousand. Need I say more? 😉 Although, tea has grown on me over the years. I don’t drink coffee all day, so in the evening it’s tea for me.
Thornton or Darcy
Darcy. Yum. That’s all I have to say about that!
Yoga Pants or Jeans
Jeans are my almost everyday choice. Once I’m home for the evening, you’ll find me in pajamas. 🙂
Zoo or Aquarium
Both! We have a membership to our local zoo, which we love, but I also enjoy an aquarium. I say yes to all of the above on this one.
Her Texas Cowboy
The sweetest reunion in Texas…
When Rachel Maddox returns to her hometown of Fredericksburg, Texas, avoiding her ex is much easier said than done. Still nursing the broken heart Rachel caused years earlier, rancher next door Hunter McDermott figures he can be cordial for the brief time she’s in town–maybe they can even be friends. But how do you forge just a friendship with someone you’ve always pictured as your bride?

I prefer third person style of reading. First person feels like there is not as much focus on the other half of the couple. I want to know about both of them.
April 28, 2018 at 3:48 am
So true! Never thought of it that way before.
April 27, 2018 at 4:02 pm
I prefer multiple points of view. I like knowing what each character is thinking, feeling, etc. For me, it gives more depth to the story.
I’m not really into superheroes either. Guess I never got into them growing up. But my favorite superhero movies are the original Superman ones with Christopher Reeves. Those are about it for me, lol!
Thanks for such a fun interview! Moose looks like a big softie, love animals in books 🙂 Thank you also for the giveaway, Rel!
April 28, 2018 at 3:49 am
I have a soft spot for Moose. 🙂 And yes, that’s about all I’ve seen for superhero stuff too!
April 27, 2018 at 9:34 pm
Depends on the story line sometimes third person, sometimes multiple views. Not into super hero’s.
April 28, 2018 at 3:50 am
🙂 thanks for sharing!

I definitely enjoy third person better, though the first person narratives that I’ve read recently are starting to change my mind. I do love Marvel; you should start with Captain America: first Avenger and work your way chronologically through all the newer releases. My children and I blitzed through the DVDs last summer and had a blast! Now our pace has slowed down while waiting for the new releases in the theater.
I love garage sales, books and boots, too! 😀
April 28, 2018 at 3:51 am
Nice! We are kindred spirits. 🙂 That’s good to know! We’re always looking for good family friendly movies to watch.
April 28, 2018 at 1:53 am
I prefer first person POV as I feel instant connection and am thrown into the story. The immediacy is my favorite.
April 28, 2018 at 3:51 am
I love that aspect of it also!
April 28, 2018 at 4:29 am
I don’t have a preference on 1st or 3rd person. Just give me good and heart warming story and I am a happy girl! I have never loved superhero movies, but my hubby and son do, so I have started watching them with them and I am surprised at how good they are! I love DC, because Wonder Woman! Marvel is good too; Cpt America is pretty cool. 🙂
April 28, 2018 at 1:12 pm
👍 thank you! And yes, I’m with you. Just give me a good story. 💓
April 28, 2018 at 5:51 am
So I like first person. I love DC but Marvel is good too. I LOVED Wonder Woman!!! I can’t wait to see Avengers
:infinity war!!! My kids would tell you that Superhero movies are the best!!!!
April 28, 2018 at 1:13 pm
My kids are missing out! I need to get on it. 😉
April 28, 2018 at 8:01 am
I’m not into Superheroes. I’m not sure I could identify anyone but Superman or Batman. 😀
I’m not too picky about 1st or 3rd point of view in books, as long as the story draws me in.
April 28, 2018 at 1:13 pm
I hear you on that. 💓
April 28, 2018 at 8:15 am
I don’t do Marvel of DC so I would be no help in where to start. I watched the Superman movies with Christopher Reeve and the old TV shows.
I like third person stories so I can know what several characters are thinking and what their points-of-view are.
April 28, 2018 at 1:16 pm
Me too!
April 28, 2018 at 8:19 am
If you enjoy humorous movies, try Guardians of the Galaxy or Thor Ragnarok.
April 28, 2018 at 1:17 pm
Okay, thank you! I love me some humor. 💓😊
April 28, 2018 at 9:03 am
I love a good 1st person as it’s true to life 😉, but it’s nice to have everyone’s take as well 😊 So, basically, I like books 😁💜
April 28, 2018 at 1:18 pm
Me tooooooo 😂
April 28, 2018 at 10:36 am
I enjoy both first and third person points of view. It kind of depends on the book. I’m not into super heroes so can’t recommend any movies. When I read this book is set in Fredericksburg, Texas, I knew I wanted to read it. When we lived in central Texas, we visited Fredericksburg several times.
April 28, 2018 at 1:18 pm
Oh nice! It was so fun to write Fredericksburg. 💓
April 28, 2018 at 10:53 am
I prefer first person most of the time. It makes me feel more connected to the character.
My superhero knowledge is limited, but I did really like the series Smallville. My son is watching Flash, so I’ve seen a few episodes.
April 28, 2018 at 1:20 pm
I watched a few Smallville and Flash sounds interesting!

My oldest (17) is a HUGE superhero fan has been his entire life. I have seen every DC and Marvel movie out there and I know the difference between the 2 universes and all that. DC are darker characters in the comics and the movies keep them that way. Because half of the Marvel movies came out after Disney took over they are more light hearted and family friendly. To truly understand them all you’d have to watch them from the beginning but since you are a newbie I would say start with Toby Mcquires Spider-Man movies. They are good and not in the same story line as all the ones coming out right now so you wouldn’t be confused. Those came out originally around 2004 and later when my oldest was about 4 that’s what got him hooked. That will be a great start for someone not that into superheroes.
April 29, 2018 at 1:37 am
Good to know! Thank you!
April 28, 2018 at 10:49 pm
I enjoy both first and third person. I’m not really into superhero movies or shows.
April 29, 2018 at 1:38 am

April 29, 2018 at 2:42 am
I love both. At first, I liked first-person more because I liked to be in the main character’s head and experience everything they did at the exact same time. It’s more to true to life as well because we only know with certainty our own thoughts and feelings, with everyone else we have to learn and observe. But the more I read third person, the more it grew on me. Now I like to get a deeper understanding of the hero and heroine and as a reader I’m more involved in both of their individual journeys and their romantic arc leading to their HEA.

Agree! Good points

April 29, 2018 at 4:50 am
I think I prefer third person, but there are definitely times that I do dig a first person tell. I am not much help there. It is all about how well the story is told I guess.
Superheroes! Right up my alley! My son and I are long time comic book and superhero movie fans. If you are going to try DC go with the old stuff. Old Superman for sure. I’ll be honest and it will sound dorky, but my son and I have a strong preference for Marvel. DC was his first love but the newest Superman and Batman have left him frustrated because they are really destroying the things that counted for Superman and Batman. They are now playing against type and he hates it. 🙂 So yes…check out the Marvel Universe, there is a lot of fun there for the most part, but beware that Thor really is not a lot of fun until Ragnarok. Too much? lol
April 30, 2018 at 2:29 am
Haha! I love it. Thanks for the direction! 😄
May 4, 2018 at 8:24 am
Kelly Blackwell » Great advice, Kelly 🙂 It’s so much fun when you can share movies with your kids. My girls are big fans of Marvel, too!
May 1, 2018 at 2:12 pm
I know that I said that I prefer third person on your Facebook post, but I’m changing my mind, lol. I lile both as long as the story isn’t written in present tense. For some reason I much prefer stories written in past tense! Haha
As for superhero movies, I stand by my recommendation of the Marvel movies. Even the ones that the critics tore apart, like the original Fantastic Four, are decently entertaining.
May 4, 2018 at 1:24 am
wonderful review. hmm I think it depends on the story about what person. I like first person, third person and sometimes where I read about all of them.
