Synopsis:~
New Year. New Resolution. New Romance?
What happens when the best-laid plans break a friendship?
As the twin sister of hockey’s hottest forward, romance-loving Bree Karlsson is used to being ignored, leading to a New Year’s resolution to not date any athlete in her attempt to find Mr. Right. But what happens when the man who might prove to be her personal Mr. Darcy is her brother’s hockey-playing best friend?
Mike Vaughan might be happy playing in Boston, but he’d be even happier if Bree could one day see him as more than a good friend. He agrees to help Bree with a special project in the hope she’ll finally see him as something more. But when a misunderstanding ends in a Valentine’s Day disaster, Bree realizes that her breakup project may have broken her friendship with Mike in two. Can she ever redeem her mistake?
This friends-to-more romance has plenty of heart, humor, and swoon-worthy kisses in this first book of the Original Six, a sweet, slightly sporty Christian contemporary romance series.
Necee’s take:~
“He couldn’t help but thank God for this chance to be with Bree, like God had given him permission to hope and dream once more.”
Mike has always loved his best friend’s sister, but how can he get her to see him as more? Honestly, I loved Mike the most…he’s the guy you want by you side, but may not realize he’s more than a friend. Breanna takes a while to figure out her feelings for him, but I love how raw her character is. Their romance is a sweet friends to more type relationship that drew me right into rooting for Mike.
“God, protect me from the snares. I want the guy who’s right for me. Help me be patient for him.”
In this Christian fiction romance, Caroline Miller begins with the first of her series on hockey players finding romance. For those who like light spiritual references, this book is pretty heavy on the Christian walk. However, if you’re looking for a good book that walks through the struggles of being a Christian in dating, then it’s a good read. I found the beginning a bit of a struggle, but absolutely loved how the characters grew in their relationships with each other and God. This is a promising new series and I’m looking forward to the next book.
I was given a copy of this book by the author. All opinions are my own and are giving honestly.
