Top 10 Reads, 2018

Cover Art Headers (7)

My Top 10 is coming a day late for my Southern Hemisphere readers and on time for my Northern Hemisphere friends! It’s always so challenging putting a list like this together and every year there a books I’d love to include but that defeats the purpose of a top 10. There’s always a way around it and this year I’m posting my top series for the year where I’ve read the last book of the series or the most recently released of an unfinished series. Books are listed in alphabetical order according to title. Please share your thoughts/favourite reads of 2018 in the comments – can’t wait to chat about what books you loved.

Thanks for joining me in 2018 ~ my blog, as always, is a labour of love. Of books, their writers, and you, my readers. Here’s to 2019! I’ll be sharing more about what’s coming up here soon. Praying for a joyous 2019, despite the highs and lows ahead of us all.

Blessings, Rel xo

This year I’m also doing a top series listing of series I loved in 2018 – the individual books I read this year are Top 10 worthy but the series must be read for the best reading experience so it made sense to me to include my 2018 top series recommendations, too!

  1. There’s one book on this list I haven’t read yet (Charles Martin) but I’m still going to say I agree! And that you have very good taste in books. 😉

  2. Hallo, Hallo Rel,

I have the worst time at sorting out my End of the Year Surveys, too! There are always so many lovely memories of the stories I’ve found, the joys of being with those characters we’ve felt as if we’ve lived beside for different spurts of time and of course, sorting out the ‘best of the best’ is so subjective! What we felt, how it impassioned us and just what made that individual book and the author’s style stick out to us a year in reflection?

We share some mutual favourites – as I believe I dropped by talking about Becky Wade’s series? I can’t wait to continue reading the Bradford Sisters Romance series and I am hopeful I can finally dig into her backlist this year, too!

It is also the year I want to read Biscof’s novels – overall, if I could put a dent in my 70 Authors Challenge, I’d be thrilled to bits!! Its focused on INSPY and I couldn’t be happier! I have several series of Love Inspired Suspense I want to consume, too.

There are a heap of authors on this list I haven’t heard of – I’ll have to re-visit, read your thoughts on their behalf and start adding to my TBR on LibraryThing!!

Thanks for continuing to inspire my INSPY #nextreads!

Happy New Year, Rel! I wish for you a lot of lovely unexpected joys, bookishly delightful reads and a bounty of personal blessings! Happy blogging and enjoy this first day of January!

    • Jorie – what lovely comments! Thank you 🙂

You have so much reading joy to look forward to with more of Becky’ novels and Jo Bischof’s – some of the very best around IMO.

Your kind words have been a wonderful start to my 2019!

  3. I loved Kara’s, Lisa’s, Joanne’s and Charles Martin’s novels! I have Katie’s and Becky’s on my Kindle! Great list!

  4. Happy New Year, Rel! Thank you for another year of thoughtful reviews and fabulous insight. I’m honored to have the Age of Faith series included in such amazing company. Wishing you and yours a wondrous 2019. ~ Tam

  5. Happy New Year, Amazing Woman! Thank you for all you do for so many authors and for Christian Fiction. What a joy to have The Tox Files tucked in among so many great reads. Thank you!! Praying the Mollets have a fabulous & prosperous 2019!!

  6. Love your choice in series. They are all my favorites too! I devour these authors books as soon as they are released.

  7. Love seeing your list! I agree it is super tough to narrow down a top favorites list. I got mine down to 15 this year.

Long Way Gone was on my list of favorites in 2017. Where Hope Begins is one we have in common on our 2018 favorites.

Falling For You was one of my favorite covers of 2018 and All Made Up a favorite contemporary romance.

    Cheers to 2019!

    • It’s soooo hard. And there were many amazing books (so I hear!) that I didn’t get to. I listed Long Way Gone audio last year and the book this year – hehe!

  8. I see a couple on your list that I enjoyed, too!
The cover on the Courtney Walsh book is just beautiful.

  9. Great list! I’ve read a lot of them and loved them. We have similar tastes in books. I haven’t read Tamara Leigh’s series, or Charles Martin’s book. I have Becky’s, and I really want to read Katie’s and Jenny Jones’s books.

It’s so hard to make a favorites list. I’m a lot pickier now about choosing books and authors, so I usually enjoy all the ones I read.

  10. As I was scrolling through your list I was saying ‘YEP!’ to all the ones I’ve read and am in agreement that they belong on the Top 10 of 2018. I still have a few to read, but am happy the remaining ones have received high praise from you. I’d like to add “A Light on the Hill” by Connilyn Cossette and “Stratagem” by Robin Carroll…both were in my Top 10.

Happiest of New Year to you and your beautiful family. Looking forward to all the book goodies you’ll be sharing with us in 2019. <3 <3 <3

  11. Thanks for the list Rel. I do so enjoy Charles Martin’s books. This year I read SEND DOWN THE RAIN, which I would put on my top 10 list. I haven’t read LONG WAY GONE yet, but I do have it. I would add Francine River’s MASTERPIECE to my list and Terri Blackstock’s conclusion to her IF I RUN series. Also, Terri wrote a great Christmas Story, CATCHING CHRISTMAS, which had me laughing through the early parts. One last book I enjoyed was by Kristy Cambron, THE ILLUSIONIST’S APPRENTICE.

Happy New Year! I look forward to your blogs.

  12. Rel, I am so incredibly honored to be in your 2018 top ten! Thank you! And it’s an absolute JOY to be among such amazing company. Wishing you and all the authors a blessed 2019!
