Necee and I have taken things to the extreme working together – this week we have jointly worked on migraines!! Not exactly what we had in mind š That said, I’m grateful for Necee’s Top Ten Tuesday that works well for being posted on Thursday – Thanksgiving for our American readers and friends. I’m going to take the opportunity to be thankful for Necee – her willingness to work with me at Relz Reviewz, her insightful reviews, her passion for stories and readers and authors, and mostly for her friendship and encouragement. Thanks Necee <3
Over to you…
Thankfulness by Necee
I am thankful for all of the books that have led me to become an avid reader. Fairytales were a major part of my younger years. I loved the world of fantasy and happy endings.
My love of mysteries as a teen led me to Nancy Drew. I loved her crime fighting mystery solving ways.
Hindās Feet on High Places and Mountains of Spices by Hannah Hurnard spoke to me as a young adult and the beauty of Godās love even through the trials. My love of allegories continued with Jill Austinās books. The Master Potter and The Master Potter and The Mountain of Fire were such beautiful representations of Godās molding us with His love.
The Left Behind series by LaHaye and Jenkins were the first books that opened my eyes to not being afraid reading Revelation for myself. This series showed Godās mercy and how he will work even toward the end times. It gave me a love for going deeper into the Bible. My love for the Lord grew by leaps and bounds after that series and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
As I go deeper into his Word, I found I enjoyed reading stories based on Biblical times. I especially enjoyed authors who wrote on how those times really were versus sugarcoating the story. I loved the depth of Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers and The Mark of the Lion series for this reason.
That is where my love for Christian fiction really took off. My Romantic mystery & suspense loving heart was met by The OāMalley series and Dee Henderson. Danger in the Shadows was the first Christian book that really met my love of reading and greatly turned me into an avid reader of Christian fiction.
My love of romantic adventure was met byĀ Catherine PalmerĀ in A Kiss of Adventure. I love traveling to new places through series like the Aloha Reef series by Colleen Coble. Susan May Warren is also a favorite who drew my heart with her From Russia with Love series. I absolutely love how she weaves the Bible into contemporary mystery and romantic suspense.
Though not fiction, one of the most healing books Iāve read that greatly impacted my life was Into Abbaās Arms by Sandra D. Wilson. This book is such a wonderful journey of seeing who you are through Christ.
And last but not leastā¦Ronie Kendig has become one of my top authors. She has a way of capturing my heart with her heroes and heroines. From her Military War Dog (A Breed Apart) series, like Talon, to her current Brand of Light, she has a way of showing Godās love through her characters. If you havenāt read her you definitely should.
I am very thankful for all of these authors and books. They have drawn my heart closer to God through their words and given me a thankfulness for Christian fiction and nonfiction. I love authors that are genuine in their stories and show Godās love to all peopleās. These authors have definitely left a profound impact on me because of what they have written.
What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season?
