Tyndale House Cover Art & Book News ~ Mid 2019

Cover Art Headers (8)

This cover art post is late in coming, but  so many of these covers are worth the wait! If you have an eagle eye or follow the authors on social media you are likely to have seen them already, but seeing them all together is always fun…I think, anyway!

Tyndale House have done a brilliant job with these ones. Cathy’s and Tara’s are my absolute standouts. So evocative and delicate – love everything about them. I love the attention to detail on Beth’s cover given the character is a recent cancer survivor, the model has been chosen well to reflect that. The simplicity and colour of T.I. Lowe’s is really eye-catching and it’s great to see an indie release getting further life with a traditional publisher.

Carla’s MacDonald Family series has new covers, gearing up for the release of the final story in the trilogy next year. London Tides reflects the story location well, while Five Days in Skye doesn’t, nor does it hint at the characters or plot. It is still a fun cover, though.

I’ve read and loved Carla’s and DiAnn’s novels and am keen to delve into the rest of these stories! How about you?

The Medallion cover

The Medallion by Cathy Gohlke

For fans of bestselling World War II fiction like Sarah’s Key and The Nightingale comes an illuminating tale of courage, sacrifice, and survival, about two couples whose lives are ravaged by Hitler’s mad war yet eventually redeemed through the fate of one little girl.

Seemingly overnight, the German blitzkrieg of Warsaw in 1939 turns its streets to a war zone and shatters the life of each citizen—Polish, Jewish, or otherwise. Sophie Kumiega, a British bride working in the city’s library, awaits news of her husband, Janek, recently deployed with the Polish Air Force. Though Sophie is determined that she and the baby in her womb will stay safe, the days ahead will draw her into the plight of those around her, compelling her to help, whatever the danger.

Rosa and Itzhak Dunovich never imagined they would welcome their longed-for first child in the Jewish ghetto, or that they would let anything tear their family apart. But as daily atrocities intensify, Rosa soon faces a terrifying reality: to save their daughter’s life, she must send her into hiding. Her only hope of finding her after the war—if any of them survive—is a medallion she cuts in half and places around her neck.

Inspired by true events of Poland’s darkest days and brightest heroes, The Medallion paints a stunning portrait of war and its aftermath, daring us to believe that when all seems lost, God can make a way forward.

  1. Wow! Tara’s is stunning! This is a nice batch of covers.

  2. There’s something to like about each one of the covers: the image (Long Walk Home); the vivid colors (LuLu’s Cafe); intriguing characters (The Medallion, The Crossing at Cypress Creek); a sense of emotion (Five Days in Skye, Where Dandelions Bloom, and yes, I think they did this well with my cover, too); and a nice use of fonts and figures ( London Tides and Cold Aim.) They all pull me into the stories and make me want to read the books.

  3. Love the covers.

  4. I am drawn to the same to as you Cathy’s and Tara’s. Both are lovely!

As for what I’m most looking forward to reading…Moments We Forget, The Crossing at Cypress Creek and Where Dandelions Bloom.

  5. I love these covers! Tyndale does such a wonderful job in cover art and never disappoints. The cover for my book, The Medallion, evokes just the emotion and character intrigue I’d hoped for but could not imagine on my own. Thank you for sharing these, Rel!

  6. Most of the covers are very nice. But I do agree with you on Carla Laureano’s covers – while the “London Tides” cover well represents the story, the “5 Days in Skye” is lacking – the original cover was great and lent itself to the story but this new one misses the mark. Thanks for the cover reveal – always interesting!

  7. Hey Rel!
Some great covers here. My favorites are Pam’s and Cathy Gohlke’s. I have really liked this series of covers on Pam’s books. They evoke the time and place well while still looking a bit different than others. I love everything about Cathy Gohlke’s new cover. The hat and the half medallion are great touches. Beth K. Vogt’s is stunning. I love the the way the colors of the backdrop match the colors used with the model. The look on her face is perfect too. I do wish the title font was smaller, but the cover overall is great. I really like Janice Cantore’s new cover. I think the larger font works here. I like the new covers for Carla Laureano’s titles. Five Days in Skye shows whimsy and adventure for a professional as shown with the women in the basic dress walking barefoot on a beam across the water. And London Tides shows a woman emerging from darkness to a new adventure in London. DiAnn Mills’ cover is ok, but I think it needs some African wildlife in silhouette to give the setting. As it is now, it slightly evokes Africa but could be other places as well. I love the yellow and brown against the blue-green wall of T.I. Lowe’s, but to me it says nothing about the story itself. I disagree with you and others about Tara Johnson’s new cover. I really look forward to reading this as historicals are my first love and this one sounds great, but I am just not a big fan of the cover. Thanks as always for sharing, Rel!

  8. Tyndale really knows how to capture the nature of the stories behind the covers. Thank you for including Lulu’s Cafe!

  9. Rel, thank you for sharing these spectacular covers! I’m in awe!

  10. Charis Zdrojewski
