Generally, I’m a total rule follower so I’m being pretty wild today, posting a First Line Friday (hosted by Hoarding Books) on a Monday morning in Melbourne (Sunday evening for my Northern Hemisphere friends!). The fabulous Susan May Warren begins a new inspirational romantic suspense family series this month, with Knox releasing on March 12, the first Montana Marshalls series. Readers of Susie May’s stories will recognise the Marshall name, being familiar with smokejumper Reuben Marshall from Burnin’ For You, plus cousin Ned Marshall from the Montana Rescue series. Reuben is the oldest of the Montana Marshall clan and you are in for a real treat when you meet all his siblings in Knox, each with stories of their own to come.
Having read Knox, I can vouch for it being an excellent read and the ebook is currently half-price until release day, so don’t miss out!
First Line
Warning: You are going to fall for the ornery little brother, too!
He’s not looking for trouble…
Montana rancher Knox Marshall’s danger years are behind him. A former bull-rider, he now runs the Marshall family ranch, raising champion bucking bulls for the National Professional Bullrider’s Expo (NBR-X). Wealth and success are his, but life is stable, expected, and…ordinary. But he wants more from life…
But trouble is looking for her…
Kelsey Jones just wants a safe life, a family, a home. Onstage, the beautiful rising star of the Yankee Belles becomes the person she longs to be – vivacious and confident – burying the brokenness she carries from a violent assault. Becoming NBR-X’s next country act is key to outrunning her past and achieving the success and security she craves.
When trouble finds them both…
Knox and Kelsey’s paths collide when an explosion at an NBR-X event traps them in the rubble and leaves them reeling. Kelsey’s crippling nightmares return, but for Knox, an obsession to find the bomber is ignited.
What will it cost him to protect her?
When Kelsey’s past threatens Knox’s family, he’ll have to choose between saving the Marshall legacy or becoming the protector he’s always longed to be.
The explosive first book in the Montana Marshalls series!
Thanks to Susie May, I have paperback copy of Knox to give away! Be sure to enter below, and if you feel like walking on the wild side with me, share a first line from a book nearby on a Monday/Sunday 😉

Susan is such a talented writer and teacher. I’ve read and enjoyed many of her books and been blessed and encouraged by the workshops she has taught. I’m looking forward to this new series! First Line: “Edward, Hello friend. I must say, the hollow of this tree is the perfect location to leave you a note.” from The Secrets of Paper and Ink by Lindsay Harrel. Delightfl!

Fun book!
I also want to say I LOVE all of Susie’s books!

Knox is definitely on my wish list! He sounds like a fantastic hero! Plus. . . can I just sit here and look at that cover all day???
My first line is: “He was suffocating. Trapped beneath several feet of earth, he tried to claw his way through the dirt and rubble to reach the blue sky above.” from Far Side of the Sea by Kate Breslin.

I can hardly wait to read Susie’s newest book! I have read every single one of hers. My first line is from “The Curse of Misty Wayfair” by Jaime Jo Wright:
“Melancholy was a condition of the spirit and the soul, but also of the mind.”

From Bittersweet Brooklyn by Thelma Adams: “It’s tough torching a fresh corpse, so the Wiiliamsburg Boys Club killers stuffed their shredded victim into the back of a Buick.” Morbid beginning, eh?

“He was suffocating. Trapped beneath several feet of earth, he tried to claw his way through the dirt and rubble to reach the blue sky above.” from Far Side of the Sea by Kate Breslin.
I know that’s technically two lines but after I typed it I looked at the earlier posts. I was amused to see that Winnie did the same thing. It just needs that second line to ramp up the suspense.

I’m catching up from Roseanna’s backlist and enjoying this one immensely!

“Once upon a time, Melody Johansson had believed in happily ever afters.” Brunch at Bittersweet Cafe by Carla Laureano. Sounds like a sad beginning but trust me, this novel really does have a happily-ever-after story and ending. Maybe you could call this “Move Over Monday” – – because Carla hit the scene with a break out novel “5 Days in Skye” and she has been gaining ground with each novel since. And if you’re a “foodie” – you better have food-grub on speed dial!! LOL

I’m pretty excited about this new series! My book is The Bronte Plot by Katherine Reay, the line seems pretty fitting. “Wednesday was book day.”
