My take:~
I rarely read Love Inspired novels as I prefer a longer, more involved story that can usually be offered by these novella sized reads, and they can – generalising here – be a little too formulaic for me. So, why did I read this one, you may ask?! Allie Pleiter. I have a number of Allie’s early trade length novels and she’s an excellent writer, so thinking it would likely be a swift and sweet read, I thought I’d read outside of my usual preferences.
I should have known Allie would toss those sentiments on their head with a layered and intricate story that seemed bigger than its word count allowed. And her characters also stood out, being a little troubled, a little defiant, a little desperate to be accepted and loved by their families and their community. The sweet love story is present, a hallmark of these stories, and it was one I enjoyed as Marilyn and Wyatt worked through their private demons to forge a new path for themselves individually and together. It’s a fine line often with young children in stories, but the twins are pretty adorable too! Their Wander Canyon Wish was a delightful surprise and well worth the read.
With thanks to the author for my review copy.
