We’ve been a little behind on Top Ten Tuesdays, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, but decided to catch up this week. So, without further ado, this week’s topic is… the Top Ten Reasons Why I Love Reading Adventure. Namely, I’m writing about the top ten adventures I would love to do after reading about it! During this crazy time of being socially isolated, I love the idea of travel and adventure through reading. So, I’ve listed books that I loved reading because of the activities and adventure…
1. ROCK CLIMBING IN ALASKA: Silenced by Dani Pettrey features an adventure I’ve always wanted to try…rock climbing! Yes, I live in Alaska, but I’ve never been rock climbing and it just looks exciting.
2. SCUBA DIVING IN HAWAII or anywhere exotic: Distant Echoes by Colleen Coble in the Aloha Reef series is filled with underwater explorations I’d want to explore.
3. A FLIGHT TO A REMOTE CABIN BY AN ALASKAN LAKE: Once Upon An Alaskan Summer by Lisa T Bergren is my current read. I love the idea of flying in a bush plane to a place close to home, namely Talkeetna, Alaska to take pictures, fish, and pick berries.
4. TRAVELING THE AMAZON : Not Exactly Eden is one highly recommended by Rel and at the top of my TBR list. Adventures in the Amazon…Literally, any adventure that takes me through the Amazon and I’m not talking about the shopping site :O)
5. OUTER SPACE: Brand of Light by Ronie Kendig…what better place to travel in outer space than with a good Kendig novel! Plus, maybe I could learn parkour from Marco. Now that would be a fun adventure!
6. A DESERTED ISLAND: The Waves by Amy Matayo was written beautifully and made me want to get shipwrecked. I’d accept a nice cottage on the beach with some close friends instead of sleeping on the beach though!
7. CRUISE SHIP: The Theory of Happily Ever After by Kristen Billerbeck was a fantastic read and what better place to read this book than on a cruise ship.
8. VISIT A PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE: The Red Door Inn by Liz Johnson has such beautiful scenery and I love the lighthouse featured on the cover. I’ve always been intrigued by lighthouses.
9. STAYING IN A SCOTLAND ISLES INN: Oh, how I would love to visit Ireland and Scotland, so though I haven’t quite read this book yet, it’s on my TBR pile. Releasing soon is Carla Laureano’s Under Scottish Stars. The cover and story sound sublime.
10. VISITING A WORKING FARM IN THE OUTBACK OF AUSTRALIA: A Girl’s Guide to the Outback by Jessica Kate, because, hello, you knew I’d have to pick Australia and/or New Zealand for travel plans. Plus, I could visit Rel again in person, and have more amazing adventures with her.
What books have inspired a travel adventure for you?

Visiting that PEI lighthouse sounds amazing! There’s a lighthouse here in Toronto I love to visit. We have a ghost story attached to it and everything. It’s awesome.

Liz’s books are so sweet, and further make me want to visit PEI, though my first curiosity to visit was inspired by the classic “Anne of Green Gables.” 🙂

Reading books is definitely a great way to experience adventure when you can’t actually go anywhere. Great list! Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
