Coming in late 2013 from Summerside Press

SummersideFall2013

Here are Summerside’s latest covers for their Fall releases.

Patricia’s is an updated cover and I like this one better than the original. Summerside does some very pretty covers usually but I’m not really grabbed by these ones particularly ~ though the house is pretty on Judy’s cover. They do sneak in a train which I know my dear friend Amber will love!

Any catch your eye in this lot?

Strangers in the Night by Patricia RushfordStrangers in the Night

All she wants is to protect her daughter and avoid notice. But the handsome stranger with Frank Sinatra eyes threatens to change everything.

For two long years, Abbie Campbell has been on the run with her four-year-old daughter, Emma. Then she receives a visit from Jake Connors, a friend of her parents, who convinces her to join them in the beautiful town of Cold Creek, Oregon.

Jake is determined to help Abbie clear her name of the accusations that sent her into hiding. Being in with her family again—and with Jake—fills Abbie with a peace she hasn’t felt in years, and the prospect of turning an old lumber town into an artists’ retreat gives her new purpose. But then comes an unknown threat worse than all that Abbie has already faced, worse even than the fear of discovery. For lurking in the beautiful hills of Cold Creek is a killer determined to stop her at all costs.

The Journey of Josephine Cain by Nancy MoserThe Journey of Josephine Cain

An East-coast socialite takes a dangerous but exciting journey to the site of America’s greatest undertaking—and discovers the most unlikely of suitors.

A setting populated by hundreds of laborers, outlaws, and Indians is hardly the place for a wealthy general’s daughter from the nation’s capital. But Josephine Cain is determined to accompany her father as he oversees the day-to-day work involved in the grandest ambition of post-Civil War America: the building of the Transcontinental Railroad.

Life with the railroad is far from the proper life Josephine is used to, and she faces deadly Indian raids, harsh weather, and vigilante uprisings—which all threaten the project. But what irks her most is the presence of a certain buffalo hunter with a heart for the lost. Josephine must climb off her high horse if she’s to discover that the most unusual, annoying, and stubborn man she’s ever met just might be the love of her life.

LFY in Frost, MinnesotaLove Finds You in Frost, Minnesota by Judy Baer

When Jack returns home to Minnesota, he meets the town’s newcomer. She’s bubbly, beautiful . . . and his latest adversary.

Considering that her name is Merry Noel Blake and she was born on Christmas Eve, it’s not surprising that Frost, Minnesota’s newest resident is crazy about the holiday. She has single-handedly convinced the entire town to help her turn Frost into a Christmas destination; there’s a tableau of the stable in Bethlehem, a concert, many events at the church, and Merry’s own holiday boutique.

Jack Frost has always tried to live down his whimsical name—a gift from his playful parents—and he does his best to deter Merry from making what he considers a kitschy mockery of the town and the season. But she believes that below Jack’s frosty exterior is a warm heart—and that she is the one to thaw it.

LFY in the City at ChristmasLove Finds You in the City at Christmas (2-in-1) by Ruth Logan Herne and Anna Schmidt

Love comes to the big city in two heartwarming stories of Christmas past and present.

“Red Kettle Christmas”

It’s 1946, and police officer Mike Wolzak has inherited his family’s home . . . and the custody of his younger sister, who is in trouble with a problem he doesn’t know how to fix. While on patrol during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Mike makes the acquaintance of a lovely Salvation Army bell ringer, Karen O’Leary, who is struggling to support herself and her young daughter. As their paths cross during the festive holiday season in Manhattan, Karen teaches the tough World War II veteran how to support and love his family. In the process, he just might gain a new one.

“Manhattan Miracle”

A war-weary soldier who has served three tours in the Middle East, Max Wolzak has come home to New York City to celebrate Christmas with his family in the Manhattan brownstone where he spent much of his childhood. There Max reconnects with Sarah Peterson, his sister’s old schoolmate who now organizes relief missions for the United Nations. Sparks fly as the pair gets reacquainted over various holiday events, but when Max realizes that Sarah will leave for the Middle East the day after Christmas, he has a decision to make—convince her to stay, wait for her to return, or go with her to the one place to which he never thought he’d return.

Summerfield, England, 1880. The lives and loves of manor and village intertwine. Earl and shopkeeper, countess and clerk— all will be transformed by a secret that begs to be revealed.

When the Weston family returns to Summerfield Manor at the close of the London social season, both village and manor relax into their normal existence. But for four women, turmoil awaits. Loyal lady’s maid Molly Wallace juggles the demands of her job, the needs of her own family, and a secret romance. And Lila Hayward, daughter of the village shopkeeper, finds herself in love with Joseph Kidd, the son of a viscount. Not only has Joseph been forced into an engagement with Ruth’s spoiled daughter, but Lila is obliged to act as liaison between the two, putting her in constant contact with the man she loves but can never hope to win.
